3rd Passenger more expensive than 1st and 2nd. Anyone ever seen it before?

Recommended Posts

Ok,

Was just doing a dummy booking on Freedom of the Seas for JS for April 13th as it is on a hot deal.

But when I dummy booked it first and second passengers were $1149 each but 3rd was $1499.

Has anyone else very seen these because I haven't and wasn't sure if it was just a glitch or something:confused:

It happens occasionally if they're approaching the max number of 3/4 berths they can sell. On some rare occasions, you can't even reserve one even if 1/2 berths are still available.

Having said that, with RCI it's certainly possible, maybe even likely, that it's an IT department screw up.

I've seen cruise that have had rooms available for 3rd person available to book but unable to because multiple occupancy rooms have been maxed out. But higher price means almost worth booking two cabins instead!

3rd and 4th should be free now in March.

I know it was a limited per sailing basis, that said if they are reducing that much for a JS you'd think they'd be trying to pull out all the stops to fill it:)

It has happened to us a couple of times. For our cruise in December we picked up a great residency rate that was less than half the regular price. They did not adjust the 3/4 rate so it was a lot more.

I have also seen it happen on sailings that are really slow in selling. Ni guess hey want to fill all the cabins and not necessarily the berths.

It's not uncommon. Aside from above mentioned where limits may be close, it can also happen when they put discounts on the 1/2 passengers. It's not automatic that 3/4 gets updated.

So basically if 3/4 are popular, and/or 1/2 aren't popular enough, it happens.
