Does any one actually do this?

Getting ready for another cruise and as my imagination takes over I wonder does anyone ever on a consistent basis go to the shows after dinner then the late night comedy, then disco or casino or piano bar staying up till 2 or 3 then getting up early to watch the sun rise or just hang out on the empty early morning deck. Perhaps whale watching or just enjoying a cup of joe. I want to do this but I doubt the body(mine) is capable.

We do early dinner, show, skip comedy club & disco, head straight to the casino and can be there until the early hours depending if I am on a winning streak. Go to bed and can still be up early on port days but welcome the extra time in bed on sea days and my hubby & I are 60+.

Depends on who we're cruising with. If we are with the kids, then we are usually in the cabin by midnight. If it is just DH and I, then we tend to hit the bars after late seating, maybe listen to karaoke or dancing at the disco. DH likes to gamble, but I don't, so he'll hit the disco while I nap! Neither of us usually make it up in time to see the sunrise. We do order room service and have breakfast in bed though!

Always up by 7:00 at the latest, usually up until 1:00 AM - six hours is enough sleep - as long as there is an occasional sea day or un-exciting port which allows som afternoon nap time. This schedule works ashore as well - especially as the nap is always available. In the Navy, there was always 1 1/2 hour break in mid-day - "knock off ship's work" at 11:30, finish lunch by 12:00, grab a nap until "turn to" at 1:00. That was one thing I missed during civilian career.

I would rather get up early and watch the sun rise and enjoy the quiet then to stay up late and listen to music or watch a show. Dont get me wrong, I enjoy the shows and we do go watch, but then I am usually ready for peace and quiet and would rather go sit on my balcony with a glass of wine and just enjoy

1st time cruiser in July, but I am already planning some naps so I can see sunrise in Alaska and spend some wee morning hours on a quiet deck hopefully with the moon and stars

You won't see much of a sunrise or sunset in Alaska in July although my DH did get some pretty spectacular "sunset" shots the further south we got on the cruise portion of our trip. The sun is up almost 24 hours. We were there last year in late June (around the summer solstice on land and then the week before July 4th on the ship) and it never got beyond what we think of as "dusk". We did get to see the Super Moon though when we were in Denali - sooooooooooooo cool! Saw it after our midnight ATV ride.

We do it all the time. We usually have the late seating for dinner, so we stay up late to work it off. Dinner then the show, comedy club, dancing, and the casino. Then up early for excursions or walking on the track. We aren't "Spring Chickens," but we aren't "Over the Hill" either. :D Our next cruise is in Jan. and we are traveling with another couple who wanted early seating. The question will be, do the same things, and go to bed earlier, or just add more things to our evening and go to bed at the same late time. :D

No, we do not keep such a hectic schedule on vacation.

We never feel we need to 'do it all'. We do what appeals to us that day and save the rest for another time...... or not.

We wander around on the ship in the evening. No shows or clubs. We do get up early. We love to sit on the lido deck most of the day and look for sea life.

This sounds like us! We prefer relaxing on our balcony or wandering around the ship.

We usually go ashore at each port of call and stay ashore as long as possible. So, by the time we get back, take showers and eat dinner, we're ready for a good night's sleep.

I used to do all of this just about every night and then I got a little older. Now I do all of these activities just over the course of a couple of days. I just wish I had the energy I used to have.

I really wish I could be like that! Although, we're usually not out past midnight, dh will go right to sleep and I'm up until 2a.m., but watching tv, etc. DH usually gets up around 8 and goes out to wander the ship. I stay in bed, except in port days, and like to get up slowly. I never did like rising early and did it all my life!

I do both. I like to sit on the deck alone and plan my day and I love to stay up late with a few cocktails and laughs with my new found friends. I've never had any issue burning the candle at both ends ...

I can't do naps though, the whole idea just makes me feel irritable. So much to do, so little time .....

Yes, yes, yes. Hence the name Sleepless.

I am up before 7 most mornings when we cruise. Usually, at least once on a sea day, I will get up earlier in order to see a sun rise. Beautiful when out to sea. DH does not get up as early as I do. I get up early, grab coffee, and a sweet treat (this cruise it will be a banana), then walk around the ship. I stop at various places along the way, grab another cup of coffee, enjoy that then head back to wake DH (stopping for coffee for 2 along the way)sometime after 8:30 am. DH drinks his coffee while dressing; I enjoy mine sitting on the balcony watching the world go by. Then we head for breakfast.

In the evening, we usually do early dining in the main dining room. After dinner, we will go to the show of the night. Then we will walk around the ship, stop at a bar to listen to the music, head outside to the pool deck to view the ocean, stop at another bar or the casino, grab a snack. If there is a late night special comedy show, or Love and Marriage or Quest, we work those in. We usually head back to our stateroom well after midnigh, then spend some balcony time gazing at the ocean and stars. DH goes to bed, and I stay up reading for about an hour.

During the day, DH will take a couple little cat naps while watching the ocean or the people from his lounger; usually in the afternoon. I might take a 10 minute nap after leaving a hot tub.

I love staying up late at night; I am a frustrated artist, and do some of my best work at night. Unfortunately, life calls me to work, so I must get up at about 6:00 am most morning. I used to go to bed by 1:00 am, averaging a little under 5 hours of sleep per night. But, alas, in my old age, I (regretfully) have decided that 5 hours of sleep may not be in my best interest, so I try  to go to bed by midnight, thus averaging a little under 6 hours of sleep per night.

By the way, I am 62 years young. Oh, by the way, I hate getting up at 6 am. I don't have any problem waking up, I just feel it is an uncivilized hour from which one must begin their day. (Except when on vacation, looking to watch a sunrise.)

It is very rare for my husband & I to do any scheduled activities. We are both night owls naturally, but forced into early bird status due to work.

While on a cruise, we let our night owls fry free! We wander around the empty ship late nights; it often feels like we have the whole thing to ourselves with our own private staff.

We attend the occasional show, but we mostly like the wandering, the experience, the casino, the martini bar and just being together all day everyday for a few days in a row. We don't get that much during our day-to-day lives.

My husband loves a good afternoon nap and I love my Kindle, on the balcony, with some sort of beverage.
