Back to Back Cruises Question

Thank you all, great info. Defiantly sounds like a great idea to get off midway in Fl. I do wonder how assessible the Carrie b tour and others for that matter would be for my mom. She pretty much stays in her transport chair as she can't walk long distances but she can go up/down a few steps and walk a short distance. (Bad knees) If anyone can elaborate on this it would help me on what tour to book. Thanks again

We did the Carrie B in March after PC trip to kill some time b4 flight home. We did the ship tour but it can be booked online in advance and just take a cab over there. Much cheaper I'm sure. I had a CB brochure I picked up but it's gone now. Prices are online I'm sure. Thinking around $12/ea. She will have to navigate from street to the boat which was under a block. The boat had a flat ramp to the cabin level which is where she will no doubt stay. The stairs to upper deck are difficult if she uses an assist device. It seems like once we got to the boat there was one step down to the main cabin. They have decent bathrooms and sell drinks and popcorn for sure. You can also bring your own water or soda aboard. It's a nice trip. I've done it several times and always enjoy seeing those big homes!

Am I right in assuming we will have to go though US immigration four times (five including the day we arrive in the US from England!)?

Our most recent time in St Thomas (after being in a foreign port) was that there was no immigration there.

We did not have to go through immigration in St. Thomas on Princess, but we did in Key West on HAL (after going to foreign ports). I will never understand that stuff.

I suspect in the case of St. Thomas that since the immigration was taking hours, local merchants and tourist venues were losing mucho $$$ because passengers were not able to leave the ship until immigration was complete. Possibly enough complaints from the local businesses caused the immigration check there to be dropped.

The walk to the Carrie B from the taxi was at the most 50 feet. I agree that the main cabin would be more appropriate than the top deck which is up a set of stairs. Here is the website and contact numbers.

Other potential places to go are:

Flamingo Gardens - a small, laid back, Botanical Garden & Zoo. Interesting to see the history of the area. As well as the native animals from the Everglades without actually having to experience the Everglades. There is a tram tour.

15th Street Fisheries - in view of the ship is the 15 Street Fisheries restaurant. Do call and inquire about accessibility. Views great, food wonderful, and to see AND FEED the "prehistoric, monsterous" Tarpon fish is a unique experience.

Galleria Mall - If you want to escape the sun, the beach and the ship; then go to the upscale Galleria Mall. They have a wonderful food court where you can get stir fry or pasta dishes made to order. Not fast food chains.
