setsail Posted April 23, 2014 #26 Share Posted April 23, 2014 Restaurants and shops line cp on both sides and will always have people around until they close late. There is often live music being played also. There are live birds flying around that will keep watch:p
Ocean Boy Posted April 23, 2014 #27 Share Posted April 23, 2014 Did you know that Mike Szwajkowski, one of my all-time favorite Royal Caribbean CDs, is now a Royal Canadian Mounted Police(man)? OMG Mike! The absolute very best CD ever, there's never been anyone match him. I really hope he's doing great in Manitoba! :) As far as I am concerned he was the ultimate CD. I have a tremendous amount of respect for him. I just wish that I could learn how to spell his last name.
papaflamingo Posted April 23, 2014 #28 Share Posted April 23, 2014 As others have said, no worry. There are cameras, the upcharge restaurants, it isn't that big, it isn't that dark, and there are no really secluded places. You would be much more at risk on a deck that borders the water (i.e Promenade or upper deck). I think you'd even be more at risk walking down a hall late at night. Really I doubt the ships are all that dangerous. There are random acts occasionally, but I don't think anyone would dare prowl a relatively public place on the inside of the ship. marshmouse Posted April 23, 2014 #30 Share Posted April 23, 2014 There is a hidden gnome in Central Park and we found it on oasis. As far as safety, I can't even imagine worrying about that! It is lit and so beautiful. Even has the sound of crickets at night and birds in the morning.

trvlmil Posted April 23, 2014 #32 Share Posted April 23, 2014 Except for the homeless people on the bench and the muggers, it is perfectly safe. Cruise Critic really needs to add a LIKE button!!!! :D:D:D

reallyhooked Posted April 23, 2014 #36 Share Posted April 23, 2014 I'm still laughing at the comments to OP'S question. I must agree that CP is safe. Walk thru is so pleasent
LA_CA_GAL Posted April 23, 2014 #37 Share Posted April 23, 2014 This post made me LOL! Sorry but Central Park is IMO the most beautiful place on the ship day OR night. Safety is a non issue. My suggestion is walk through every time you go to your room. We were on deck 8 on Oasis and for me, that was one of the perks to being on that deck! Enjoy!!! Sent from my iPhone using Forums We had a cabin on deck 8. Returning to our cabin, we would always walk through CP rather than walk the long boring corridors. CP is simply unique and magnificent. negc Posted April 23, 2014 #38 Share Posted April 23, 2014 Except for the homeless people on the bench and the muggers, it is perfectly safe. Besides only muggers with a relatively high annual income can afford to sail on Oasis or Allure.:D
Ocean Boy Posted April 23, 2014 #39 Share Posted April 23, 2014 Besides only muggers with a relatively high annual income can afford to sail on Oasis or Allure.:D It may take a lot of muggings to maintain the lifestyle to which they have become acustomed. Maybe Central Park is not so safe after all.

Are you talking about muggings in CP or in the shops, spa, and casino? Your chances of being mugged in any of those venues is probably far greater than in Central Park.;)

Raenstoirm Posted April 23, 2014 #42 Share Posted April 23, 2014 I'm not teasing you, but this has to be one of the more unique questions that i've read on CC!:D I have to agree. I have never felt unsafe on any cruise ship. The internet is a really nosey place. We would hear about rapes and murders if they were common. Mac303 Posted April 23, 2014 #43 Share Posted April 23, 2014 I always worry about the subways at night going to and from CP. Ever since they added the Police K-9 teams on the trains, the subway thru CP is much safer.
Havingfun2010 Posted April 23, 2014 #44 Share Posted April 23, 2014 It's a ship filled with 7500 passengers and crew. A small city at sea. Regardless of where you are on the ship, a crime can be committed. It is not common, and central park is no different than any deck on a ship. However, the ship is filled with security, as well as cameras all over the place. It's much safer than most places you can go on vacation. Being aware of your surroundings, and not taking unnecessary risks are important!
cruisegirl1 Posted April 23, 2014 #45 Share Posted April 23, 2014 Just because it is called Central Park, it is no more dangerous or safe than any other part of the ship. You will be fine, enjoy. m ps - some of the funny responses really made my day. Thanks. m
readytolose Posted April 23, 2014 Author #46 Share Posted April 23, 2014 Thanks for all of the replies! I've never felt unsafe on a ship so I really wasn't expecting to get replies back telling me to stay away from CP at night, but I've just been noticing how dark it seems at night and it got me wondering. All the other parts of the ship seem to be lit nicely and there are always a bunch of people in the pictures that are posted. CP is darker and almost always looks empty. At least in the pictures that I have seen! I'm actually looking forward to being out there at night with DH listening to the music. and crickets! Seems like a great romantic place for us to relax and enjoy our vacation.

SpencerNY1 Posted April 23, 2014 #48 Share Posted April 23, 2014 Why didn't you just go to guest relations to get a replacement key card? Alcohol, i was just planning on sitting for five minutes and I thought my roommate would be back soon but they passed out on a pool lounger. cruisegirl1 Posted April 23, 2014 #50 Share Posted April 23, 2014 I have fallen asleep in the hallway because I locked myself out with jewelry on and was woken four hours later by the breakfast room service guy. I have never felt in danger on a boat Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Alcohol, i was just planning on sitting for five minutes and I thought my roommate would be back soon but they passed out on a pool lounger. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Sounds a lot like that newlywed incident on the Brilliance Med cruise. Honestly, I am very surprised that RCI security will allow anyone to lay passed out in a public hallway. Seems dangerous to a person and a liability to the cruise line. m
