LIVE from Allure of the Seas, sailing April 27th!

Recommended Posts

We have a medical emergency and are still docked at St. Maarten. There's a festival going on downtown and traffic is a nightmare for the ambulance to try and get here. I pray they can get this person the help they need soon
That's it for today my friends! Tomorrow we are in St. Maarten

Thanks for tuning in everyone! :)
Thanks to you Chris, for really, REALLY great coverage of your cruise. I try not to "bog down" your Live From with accolades cuz God knows you are gathering TONS of them; richly deserved. Are you on a b2b or will you be coming home this weekend???
Chris great photos of Maho Beach. We are doing that this cruise too, I have never done that in all our cruises. Always gone to Orient Beach. Were just going to jump in taxi and head over. Anyone know how much? Have a great rest if your cruise Chris. I leave for Florida tomorrow and out in Oasis on Saturday.

FYI got a call and a text from RCI that it's Fleet weekend and that the pier entrances may be extra busy.

Anne there is only one naval vessel in port(not exactly a fleet LOL :) ) and that is the USS New York which used some steel in its construction from the World Trade Center. There are USUALLY many more vessels but last year this event was canceled in Port Everglades and they only have the one ship this year. I would not be too concerned about it but one never knows.
Chris your pictures are great. My DD and DH and I will be at Mayho beach in June. Just wandering what time you left the ship and what is a good time to head back to the ship? I hear the rush hour traffic and a bridge that unpredictably stops traffic can turn a leisurely beach day into a hair puller trying to get back on ship on time. I also saw that folks were sitting in chairs and had umbrellas on the beach. Do they have to be reserved? Do you rent that setup from some bar? And the last question is about what time did the larger planes start coming in?:D

Anne, not sure of the cost of a taxi to Maho. We booked a tour through Benard's Tours and it was 25 per person.

Mz, I don't know about reserving umbrellas and chairs as we sat at the bar. We had a festival going on today downtown so we left Maho at 1 pm but normally I would say 2 pm would be good for leaving to get back to the ship. The biggest plane we would have seen today was an Air France A340 but it didn't come in to land till around 1:40 Edited by Bugsy4271

I LOVE those pasta shells and I know they are a favorite of a friend of mine as well!!
Well, I made the Bushwackers, but everyone agreed they were way toooo sweet. I must tweek the recipe, but hope to have it down right by the time we leave for our cruise. We got in some good training though!!!!

Good morning girls and boys...ready for another day in paradise....thanks Chris!:D
I don't remember the Bushwhackers that we get as being really sweet. We asked the guy what went in them and he wouldn't tell us!! I need to watch closer next time I go there!

Chris, I love the photos of Maho beach. I have yet to get there. I always tend to go to Orient beach.

Bernard Tours are the best in St. Maarten. The cost was $45 to venture on the Dutch and French sides.... here is the route (includes Orient and Maho beach):

Pickup at the cruise pier
Iguana Farm ( currently under construction until further notice)
Stop at the French and Dutch border [2 mins]
Brief stop at Oyster Pond over looking the island of St Barths [5-10 mins]
Orient Beach where you'll be able to swim and have lunch [90-120 mins]
Marigot - open market (French Capital) [30 mins]
Maho Beach - see low flying planes [45 mins]
Drive through Simpson Bay marina
Harold Jack Hill (View of Simpson Marina,Airport & Anguilla)
Return to Philipsburg depends on tour departure time; all guests will be returned in time to meet their ship's sail time.
We always use them! Worth every penny! Enjoy your upcoming cruise.

Thanks Chris,

Your response was quick and very much appreciated. I'm still a little over a month out but I'm ready to start packing already. Hope the person(s) that needed medical attention pulls through.
Enjoy the rest of your trip!!
Take care of my ship for me:D
How long of a ride is it? Thanks!
20 to 30 minutes with no traffic jams.

You can also take a bus for $2pp one-way, but budget 45 minutes for the bus.
