RCI just posted on the Aus/NZ face book page:

"We're in Brisbane today to reveal a very exciting secret. Can anyone guess what it is?"

Any ideas what it is?

So pleased to see we will finally have another 'brand' ship sailing out of Brisbane.

Legend of the Seas is an older ship built in 1995, however it has recently undergone a massive refurbishment in 2013.

If anyone can find the repositioning itinerary to bring it to Brisbane can you share it with us. I've had no luck finding it, maybe a little too early.

Just found this info online:)

Legend of the Seas arrives in Brisbane in December 2015 for a five-month season. At 70,000 tons she is one of the largest superliners able to navigate the Brisbane River and dock at Brisbane Cruise Terminal at Portside Wharf. She offers guests a world class cruising experience from the cruise line responsible for the world’s largest megaliners Oasis of the Seas and Allure of the Seas and the much anticipated Quantum of the Seas.

Following an extensive $50 million revitalisation in 2013, the ship boasts new “Wow” facilities that guests will not find onboard any other cruise ship sailing from Brisbane: a central Atrium with an acrobatic aerial show, a rock climbing wall, a mini golf course, an indoor swimming pool, a babies nursery and multiple speciality dining venues including a Sushi restaurant and a 12-seat private dining room. She also features a stunning two-deck grand dining room, an 800-seat theatre, the Vitality Spa & Fitness centre, a beauty salon a shopping arcade.

Gavin Smith, Regional Vice-President Asia Pacific said, “We are thrilled to announce our first program of cruises from Brisbane. Legend of the Seas will provide a new choice in local cruising – and is the logical next stage in Royal Caribbean’s growth in Australia. This move comes off the back of strong demand from both the local and international guests and represents another major investment by Royal Caribbean in the Australian cruise market.”

Legend of the Seas has been here before.

She was here in 2002 for the Au/NZ season. She is a sister ship to Vision of the Seas and Rhapsody of the Seas but is a few years older.

She will be a 20 year old ship when she gets here, and being that age will easily get under the Gateway Bridge.

Hooray!!

Another Vision class ship comming to Australia. Who knows - we may even get a Freedom class ship in the near future with all the ships they're building.

With other cruise line additions to the Aussie fleet - we are getting spoilt for choice :)

So many cruises - so little time....

YAY! Legend was our first cruise ship! So many choices now! Brisbane is closer to us but not easier to fly to :(

My decision - new knee or more cruises?

WooHoo........nice to know. Hope she doesn't just do the same old Noumea-Lifou-Port Vila though.

My thoughts exactly, or at least some of the other islands out there that are rarely seen by RC but often on competitor itineraries. But like AussieFF said "I don't care where it's going, I'll be on it". :D Will be so nice to be able to take advantage of any last minute deals without having to worry about flights.

This has made my day. Now to sit tight for the itineraries. From memory she was spotted in a NZ port booking - hope she does the 14 night NZ itinerary Radiance has in 14/15 but not in 15/16.

Legend of the Seas is kind of in a class of its own. It is not an identical sister to Grandeur, Enchantment, Rhapsody and Vision of the Seas. The exact twin sister of Legend is Splendour of the Seas.

I recently saw the ship in Cabo San Lucas on my recent Golden Princess cruise. When I saw it I wondered when it would make its way to Australia.

Found this from a newsletter mailout...no actual dates but it does give us a few clues..

Legend of the Seas will begin its 2015 summer with a 15-night Westbound Panama Canal crossing, departing in April from Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. to San Diego, Calif. From there, the ship will embark on a trio of sailings across the Pacific to Singapore. A 10-night Hawaii cruise from Ensenada, Mexico, will take guests to the islands of Maui, Kauai, and Hawaii – with a cruise by the world famous and still-very active Kilauea Volcano – and conclude at Honolulu, Oahu. From there, Legend of the Seas will sail a 17-night itinerary to Sydney, Australia, via the French Polynesian islands, Fiji and New Caledonia. The ship will then complete its half-way-around-the-world voyage to Singapore via the north coast of Australia.

While homeported in Singapore, Legend of the Seas will sail a variety of three- to 10-night roundtrip itineraries throughout Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam through mid-November. Vacationers also can choose among two consecutive 14-night itineraries in September, a southbound sailing from Singapore to Perth (Fremantle), Australia, followed by a northbound return, both taking guests to Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, and Western Australia.

Legend of the Seas will then transitionfrom Singapore to its new homeport of Brisbane on an 18-night itinerary, departing in late November. During the cruise line's first season sailing from the Australian city, vacationers can choose among a wide range of eight- to 11-night, round-trip itineraries that take them to Vanuatu, New Caledonia, Loyalty Islands and Fiji in the South Pacific. The shipalso will offer seven-night Queensland sailings which feature an overnight at Cairns. Additionally, a 14-night New Zealand itinerary will take guests to Auckland, Tauranga, Napier, Wellington, Akaroa, and Dunedin, as well as cruise Dusky, Doubtful, and Milford sounds.

Cheers for posting this. I am sure there will be plenty of further announcements to fill in the gaps.:D

Great news for Brisvegas!

The move makes sense because it seems like 1/4 of any given cruise the passengers are from Bris or nearby flying down to Sydney to cruise.

..and conversly that means that 3/4 of any given cruise will now have to fly to Brisbane.
