Breakaway Bermuda 2014

Recommended Posts

If it's not ready until late next summer, then that's the PERFECT excuse to sail Breakaway to Bermuda again ;)

Looks really nice though!

They are doing a $51 million dollar renovation!

I opened google maps and I typed " 9 Beaches, Bermuda" and there are 2 locations on the map....

Bernews reports it as a place to go this summer...and a web site says open back in 2015 ....

confusing.....

Way bizarro... I just did the same thing and only found one...

I hope it docks port side today just to mix it up - it's probably predicted that it will dock starboard today as that's been the pattern so far; two ports, then one starboard. Also, that's how the Dawn docked, which also seems to be a pattern the BA is following.

If there truly is a pattern... then predicting for the upcoming weeks, we'll be docked starboard and I don't wanna be docked starboard! Ok.. that was my pre-coffee rant for the day :p

Morning all :)

Sorry VickiD. It's starboard today.

Where were you last week cockney?

Oh look! Haven people on their balcony!! When does that happen? Never!

I tried to figure out a pattern last year also. Just when I thought I had it, it changed. Can't figure - just go with the flow - all views are great.

Should mean port side for our trip.

:)

Had to work last week Meatball - necessary to pay for my cruising habit!

We are in Haven and fully intend to be on the balcony when docking. If port side in 2 weeks I will be sure to give you all a wave - 3rd balcony forward from mid-ship on the top Haven deck.

So far it's been two portsides then a starboard, two portsides than again a starboard. Is this the pattern - maybe or maybe not.

I hope so since I have a starboard cabin in 3 weeks :-)

It's Friday the 13th. - BDA time is 4:50 PM and the Summit is underway, horn sounding as she leaves Dockyard. Watching the live portcam feed - a family of 4 (w. beach towels) just boarded 15 minutes ago and 5 minutes later, 2 "walkers" leisurely made their way back to the ship.

Looks like there's a RCL mega ship coming into port (ok, it's VOS on marine traffic, just off St. George's) ...

Let's see if there will be runners in a few moment. Summit is picking up speed, nobody racing to catch up so it's all abroad, thankfully. Edit - almost a dozen people just arrived & walked inside the terminal building to board the ship, beach towels in tow. Fwd Gangway is being pulled back @ 4:57 PM - ready to sail >>> anchors & ropes pulling back toward the ship.

Side thrusters applied, ship moving @ 5:01 PM - all board & everyone accounted for. Next stop - NYC.

We have staterooms on both sides with the family -- but not sure what would be better for mom in her forward facing stateroom -- looking into another ship or a view of the ocean... It's Bermuda and the ocean, so either is great, but I'm kinda split on which view/perspective forward-facing is best (better).

Last time we sailed on the Star in 2012, we docked Starboard and loved the view (especially the runners on Friday), but not maybe a different perspective for 2014 would be nice. I can always go to my brother's stateroom port for his view.

Looking forward to meeting you Robin at the M&G with MY DW Robin :)
