What did you do ? These hours seem strange. 12 pm to 7 pm

Are the waters rough in the afternoon ?

Probably difficult to book a snorkel tour these hours so guess we will

Do a ship tour. But I worry afternoon waters might get rough

So how did you spend your time on St Thomas?

There are lots of beaches, if you don't want to be ON the water....shopping abounds...a guidebook can give you all the "points of interest", if you want to sightsee....

If you had more time, I'd recommend taking the trip to St. Johns...the beaches there are stunningly beautiful! If there is a ship's excursion there, then that's what I'd do. An excursion is much easier than DIY for this particular thing, since there are multiple transportation changes....let the ship take care of that for you!

We took an excursion from St Thomas to St Johns, the boat ride over was informative and beautiful. When we got to St Johns, we took a cab to one of the beaches and spent a few hours there. It was beautiful and we were very happy that we did it

This is exactly what we did the last time we were there. We went to Trunk Bay, rented beach chairs and grabbed lunch at the little food shack. Awesome day.

jiffymom:The water is rough because of wind conditions, not the time of day. Typically, the north side beaches can have rough conditions during the winter, driven by storms in the north Atlantic. If it is, you can go to a south facing beach. The best thing to do is to roll with the punches. Find out how the seas are the day you arrive and choose a beach. If you get in at noon, there is plenty of time before 5pm or so to visit one.;)
