DaisyGirl55 Posted May 12, 2014 #1 Share Posted May 12, 2014 Does Grand Cayman/Georgetown have any beach inclusives like Cozumel does? I am talking about the places in Cozumel such as Nachi Cocum, Paradise Beach and Mr Sanchos. We have no interest in butterflies or sting rays, and just want to kick back on the beach. I see 7-Mile beach mentioned quite a bit. Do they have chairs? Food? Facilities? Any other suggestions?
bookbabe Posted May 13, 2014 #2 Share Posted May 13, 2014 No AI resorts that are available for day cruise ship visitors. There's one about an hour from the port, but they cater more to actual vacationers staying there for a week or two. Info about the various sections of Seven Mile Beach can be found here: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1880444 Another popular beach area is Rum Point, which is about an hour's drive from the port (need a rental car) but many feel it's well worth the effort. This thread discusses it: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1573023
cb at sea Posted May 13, 2014 #3 Share Posted May 13, 2014 (edited) 7 Mile beach is all public....there are chair rentals, food, drink. watersport rentals, and restrooms all up and down the beach. Take the bus....very easy DIY...and cheap! (Considering it's GC...nothing's really "cheap" there!) You don't need an AI to have a great beach day on GC! Royal Palms Beach Club now has an all inclusive: https://royalpalmscayman.com/all-inclusive-cruise-package This would be as close to the clubs in Cozumel you've mentioned as you're going to get in Grand Cayman. Thank you for posting this. The two times I've been to Grand Cayman there was not an AI. This sounds like fun.:):):) I am in the mood to get back to the Western Caribbean. How do you get from the ship to the palms? Taxi, bus, Do they pick you up at port? You can take a taxi, bus or walk. "They" don't pick up at the pier. The walk is doable, but long and can be hot. I'd hop a taxi for the 5-10 minute ride. Easy.
Musicsmylife Posted May 30, 2014 #10 Share Posted May 30, 2014 Does anyone know of handicap access and beach wheelchair rental on 7 mile? I'm ok with shopping and staying close to port but I'd love to see the beautiful water. Sent from my iPad
mrsfuzzmo Posted May 30, 2014 #11 Share Posted May 30, 2014 (edited) Lucky for you, Georgetown is right smack on the water, with beautiful views. There is a nice sidewalk through most of the town up and down the waterfront. Unless you want to actually be IN the sand, you can get some beautiful view right from the road/sidewalk, restaurants and such. You could very easily go to a beachfront restaurant/bar and relax with gorgeous views! Edited May 30, 2014 by mrsfuzzmo
