ukdeblarz Posted May 21, 2014 #1 Share Posted May 21, 2014 (edited) Hi All, I've been looking everywhere for an answer to this question but can't find it. We are traveling on the Legend in 3 days! Yeah! We have 2 cabins. One where both passengers are Platinum status and the other one (mine) where I am gold and my mom has never sailed before. Our reservations were booked together and are linked. My sister (platinum) seems to think that if we all arrive together in Tampa, all 4 of us can go in the special platinum line and all 4 of us check in together and board with the platinum group. I thought that we would need to go in two separate lines. Anyone else experienced this and what happened? How did you handle it? I know my sister will have access to her cabin right as she boards, right? I tried to get FTTF but it was sold out. We can all just drop our carryons in her cabin too, right? What about with tenders in the ports and disembarkation? Thanks for any help or advice. Edited May 21, 2014 by ukdeblarz

From experience, The only ones that can go in the special check in line are those that are in your sister's cabin. Your mom and you will have to go through the regular check in and security line. The best thing to do here is to arrive as early as possible.. I would say around 10:30 am to the port so you can be as close to the front of the line as possible. There are no exceptions. They have gotten stricter. We had one cabin that was Platinum and one that was FTTF. We asked if our friends that are FTTF could come join us after they got their sail and sign cards in the Platinum lounge and was told no, but we could join them. So if you like, once you get your cards, you can meet your family in the area where they are and board with them. Remember your sail and sign cards will be in the regular checkin area. Your sisters will be in the Platinum area. As far as tenders, your sister can take up to 6 friends with her on the early tender service. You just need to go with her to the guest service desk Priority line when you arrive at the port, and they will give your sister and the rest of you an escort to the front of the line. Debarkation is the same as embark. You cannot join them. However, those that carry their own luggage off, are actually off the ship before the Platinum because Platinum cruisers are waiting for their luggage to be sorted before they debark them. So if you want to debark together, it would be best for all to do the carry your luggage off option. Have a great cruise! cruzn buckeye Posted May 21, 2014 #3 Share Posted May 21, 2014 As far as booking the reservations together and linking them, the only thing this does for you is get you a table in the dining room together. Priority perks go by the cabin. not the reservation.
okgirl Posted May 21, 2014 #4 Share Posted May 21, 2014 Unless your boarding pass says priority you will not be able to go through the VIP security line. Some ports are stricter than others about letting non-vip's in the VIP lounge to check in, but even if they do your S&S cards will not be there so at the very least they will have to go to general checkin to get them. It would probably be quicker for you to check in with your Mom at the regular desk, then join your sister to board........but again with so many Platinums these days they are getting more strict about allowing non platinums to come along. prattmom Posted May 21, 2014 #5 Share Posted May 21, 2014 Used to be that linking them on one card would allow you all to board together, but they have changed that loophole...
beberenn Posted May 21, 2014 #6 Share Posted May 21, 2014 We were on the Pride April 6, 2014. My brother had his cabin with 2 others , all in that cabin were blue. Me in my cabin, I was platinum, my dh gold and our daughter blue. We stated we were all together and we were all lead into the platinum area for check in, BUT, we were all on the same spending account. I was told by carnival that if we were all on same spending account, we could do it that way....so after checking in and getting our S&S we were all lead to the platinum seating to wait to board, we boarded like ten mins later and then we all went to guest services and changed all the spending accounts. FAST and easy...and our room was ready....theirs was not.....but we printed tags for just MY room and everyone got their luggage quick !
beberenn Posted May 21, 2014 #7 Share Posted May 21, 2014 With Regards to debarking, When they give u the zone tags, have your sister ask for more that have zone 1, then you will all be able to debark at the same time ;) It was no problem for me to get 12 zone 1 tags from my cabin steward...happy sailing !! KenMo Posted May 21, 2014 #8 Share Posted May 21, 2014 I was just on Legend for the May 11th sailing. I cruised with my two brothers and their spouses. The DH and I were the only Platinums. I put them on my credit card (and intended to leave them on). I also brought with me a copy of Carnival's policy that still states they would be able to board with me if on my credit card. At check-in, the rep said they could not board with me. I showed her the policy...didn't matter. They were not boarding with me and I could talk to the supervisor if I wanted. It wasn't that big a deal and I didn't want to talk to the supervisor. Tampa does not have a VIP room like Miami does. We arrived about 9:30-ish. We checked in where we were supposed to. They had Zone 1 boarding cards. We just sat with them and boarded with them. Not a problem. Yes, she can take your luggage and drop off in her cabin. Yes, you will be able to tender with her. For debark, our cabin steward gave my brothers Zone 1 luggage tags. I didn't ask, he did it on his own. We like to wait for all the pushing and shoving to be over before we debark, so we waited on Deck 3 together and walked off later.

It was changed a few months ago Here is the verbiag on Carnivals site Please Note: • We offer Priority Check-In at ALL embarkation ports. • Deluxe Suite Accommodations include the following categories: CS ES GS SS VS OS JS OB • For those guests traveling with additional staterooms that do not fall into either of the categories above, these additional staterooms may check in through the Priority Check-In Program only if there are minor children traveling in them. In some of the ports they are really cracking down on cabins on same credit card because of too much abuse. You were lucky because evidently in Baltimore (?) they were lenient. momstreat Posted May 21, 2014 #13 Share Posted May 21, 2014 There is a Faster to the Fun program where you pay to embark early. Otherwise only Platinum room goes early:(

You were lucky because evidently in Baltimore (?) they were lenient. The being on the same credit card isn't supposed to work anymore. The getting everyone on hopefully was a fluke (and should not have happened). There was too much abuse doing it, and tied up GS with unnecessary changes, and this took away privileges of those who earned the right to board early. Also, the S&S cards are in 2 different locations.

They aren't lenient on the wine thing , they were taking everyone's bottles that were too large, taking the soda that ppl had too much of and they took my listerine and said it was Too big ! vakayaker Posted May 21, 2014 #16 Share Posted May 21, 2014 Pretty soon there will be about 100 people not claiming Platinum boarding. Everyone else will be piggybacking off someone else. :p Where's the like button! :D:D:D
Golfing Dan Posted May 22, 2014 #17 Share Posted May 22, 2014 I have a different report. We sailed Magic on May 11, 2014 out of Galveston, Texas. Room 1 - platinum (me) and gold (wife) Room 2 - gold (mom) and gold (adult daughter) The four of us went to VIP check in and ALL of our S&S cards were already in VIP. Our rooms were linked for dinner. I thought my credit card was linked to my daughters account but find out later that it was not (she ran out of OBC on day 4). Guest services linked it to my credit card afterward. I know this input is different than previously posted, but ALL of our cards were at VIP. ukdeblarz Posted May 23, 2014 Author #19 Share Posted May 23, 2014 This was all really helpful information. In reality, it doesn't really matter, does it? We are on vacation and will be spending a nice 7 days together. Thanks again for all of the replies.
candigirl Posted May 23, 2014 #20 Share Posted May 23, 2014 I am traveling In August in one Cabin, with my son 19 and nephew 20 in the cabin next to me. I believe at 19 and 20 they are considered "minors" and could not check in on their own. I am hoping that they can come with me to the Platinum check-in lounge. Can anyone confirm? Thanks in advance...

Kaki Posted May 23, 2014 #22 Share Posted May 23, 2014 My experience in Galveston and Port Canaveral I am platinum. My daughter, her husband and their daughter were allowed to be with us in the VIP check in area. I told the lady that their cabin was on my credit card as she looked at the boarding passes, she said "I see that there is a minor in the cabin" and she let us stay together.
