Riley's Mom Posted May 26, 2014 #1 Share Posted May 26, 2014 We arrived in Galveston on Friday May 16th and stayed at the new Courtyard by Marriott . We had a double queen room with an oceanview. It is a very nice hotel. No complaints. We went to see 2 movies while in Galveston and shopped , getting our mani/pedis. Drove to Friendwood to the Baytown mall and did some shopping. We always park with Lighthouse and they were great again this year. We arrived at the lot Sunday at 10ish. We were quickly taken to the pier and since we are platinum we had a quick check in. We were on the ship before noon. Went to our cabin to drop off the carry ons then to the buffet for lunch. Our luggage arrived before 2pm. We were unpacked before going to muster drill in the theatre. Our cabin was once again on the Spa deck most last cabin on the starboard side closest to the waterpark. 12044. Quiet location. No noise from our one neighbor. Only noise was from dragging chairs above. But this doesn't bother us. Took some sily pics in the cabin and then stopped but the Red frog for my first drink. Then out to the deck for a few Fun ship Specials. Sent from my iPad using Forums
Riley's Mom Posted May 26, 2014 Author #2 Share Posted May 26, 2014 In Key West we went to eat lunch at Sloppy Joes. They have the best sloppy joes Yummy. My daughter thinks their chicken fingers are amazing. They have a sort of tempura batter. Then went strolling down Duval and visited a few clubs and sights. Riley's Mom Posted May 26, 2014 Author #4 Share Posted May 26, 2014 In Freeport for the past 2years we have booked the snorkel and private island beach break. It is with Pat and Diane and costs $67 per person for all food and drinks. They do an awesome job. These are mostly pics of the private island, one pic of snorkeling. Riley's Mom Posted May 26, 2014 Author #5 Share Posted May 26, 2014 (edited) In Nassau we went to the Hilton. It is about 4 blocks from the pier and an easy walk. It cost $65 for a day pass and $40 of that is a food and drink credit. We went there last year also. After the hilton we walked a block to Señor Frogs for a little fun, nachos and a drink. Always a great time at this location. Sent from my iPad using Forums Edited May 26, 2014 by Riley's Mom

Riley's Mom Posted May 26, 2014 Author #7 Share Posted May 26, 2014 Carnival has new backdrops for most of the photo booths. They are new since our last cruise in May 2013. It was nice to have the new variety . We loved the pirate one. Fun. Sent from my iPad using Forums
Riley's Mom Posted May 26, 2014 Author #8 Share Posted May 26, 2014 We ate atCapitano del Cucina 4 nights and at the Steakhouse one night. The other 2 nights we ate at the main dining room. We had anytime dining, I will admit to us having 2nd supper a few nights. Lol We would go to the main dining too for coffee and dessert a few nights. This became our 2nd supper. We only had pizza twice and ice cream twice at the buffet. The chocolate extravaganza was on Saturday at noon in the buffet area. One night they had a Fiesta Deck party and a mexican buffet. Another night was the Red frog pub deck party . All of the comedians on the ship were excellent. We went to their shows every night. The lines do get very long so get their early to insure you get a seat. The Magic doesn't have an Alcheny Bar. This is a disappointment . The shops had the usual watch sale, "pandora like" bracelet sale, they also now have a Boxed necklace set sale. Also the $10 shop is slim pickings now. Only 4 diff colors of pashminas. I remember when they had every color you could imagine. I love my pashminas from old carnival ships? Now thinly colors are black, gray, red and fushia. The evening backs aren't in many colors either. Only black, white, silver . I didn't see any animal print bags or cute designs a in years past. I know, who care right ? I do. I used to love buyingAll the $10 items I don't need. Lol They also had a few diff designs of sun hats and beach bags. Sent from my iPad using Forums

Shaded Lady Posted May 26, 2014 #11 Share Posted May 26, 2014 (edited) Did you take advantage of any of the spa amenities? What was in your room? They say you get some stuff from the spa... Were the chair noises from the Serenity deck 2 floors up? According to the map there should be cabins below you and the salon above you. If you can hear the chairs being dragged around from 2 floors away, that's not good! DH and I will be in a spa cabin on Magic in October...trying to figure out what to expect... DH and I will be in a spa cabin on Magic in October...trying to figure out what to expect... ============================================== We were in cabin 12044 deck 12 the last cabin on the starboard side. Directly above us,not 2 floors up just one is the serenity area. We were right next of the waterpark. We would walk out the side door and he water park is right there. Yes you can hear chairs being slid across the deck above but it didn't bother us. I've never taken advantage of the free spa amenities. The cabin is supplies with free Elemis products. Such as shower gel(mint) shampoo, conditioner and lotion. The robes are more plush and you get free slippers for each person In The cabin. The slippers are yours to keep. There was an envelope in the cabin with Spa coupons for free stuff but I didn't pay attn to what they were because I knew we wouldn't be using the, . Sorry, I should have paid more attention. We have always had a Spa cabin on the magic and love it. We either have this cabin or it's twin on the port side. Always the very last cabin closest to the outside door. We choose this end cabin so we will only have one neighboring cabin. Sent from my iPad using Forums
