I logged into my NCL account and reviewed what was offered for our cruises on the Star in a few months.

 

You can purchase a package for eating every night in specialty restaurants, but not a lesser number. Apparently, the lesser number is not offered, so we will just purchase individually on our own.

 

On earlier NCL cruises, we have purchased a wine package, where you buy 10 bottles of wine and get a discount. I did not see such a plan offered, just the ability of purchasing individual bottles of wine as a gift.

 

Does NCL still offer the wine packages, once you are on board, as they once did?

Yes they have the wine packages on board. There used to be a three restaurant dining package but that is no longer available.

We purchased a wine package last summer on the Jade.

We got 6 bottles of mixed red and white and got 20% discount on the total price. This offer was still being promoted on the second to last day of our 7 night cruise. Hope that helps. :)

do a search for Viva Vino Package on the boards and you will find more information about the wine package. I think one of the threads even has a picture of the price board.

I found previous posts on the viva vino packages, which you buy on your first or second day on board. We will look for that.

4774 papa. We will be looking into this package as well. We got it on out 12 day and it was perfect. We got 8 bottles I believe. Cheers!

Reposting of the Viva Vino Wine Package so you don't have to search all over for it:

 

NOTE: this package is usually available the first couple of days of sailing.

Look for the sales point in the ships atrium vicinity of the Registration Desk.

Also you may find it on the Lido deck. If in doubt ask about it. For some folks

it is the cats meow - no lugging bottles around from restaurant to restaurant

or to and from your cabin (unless you want to do that) - no corkage fees -

and the selections are not all that bad - makes cruising FreeStyle a snap !

The wine package is often quoted as offering a 20% discount, but it is in fact a fixes price for numbers of bottles, where the individual bottles have varying prices. The discount usually works out at much more than 20%

We have been trying out two of the Pinot Grigio wines to make sure we like them before buying several bottles. We like Pinot Grigio and "non oaky " Chardonnays...it`s a tough job...somebody has to do it!

When it is 90 days or less until your cruise, you can pre-order dinners in specialty restaurants through your ncl-account for the date(s) desired - for one night, two nights, three nights, or whatever number you prefer. You are not obliged to purchase the UDP package for the hole cruise if you don't want to - you can just book as many nights as you want instead.

 

I might have misunderstood your comment though - that you know that, but are talking about a smaller "package", like when they earlier offered 3 specialty restaurants in a package...? If that is the case, then please disregard my answer.... :)
