Pickles61 Posted June 4, 2014 #1 Share Posted June 4, 2014 Hi Just booked the allure for August and will be in a balcony room. Right now I'm on deck 6 but read that the lifeboats can block your view looking down. Is this true? What floor is best for a balcony. I'm in a D5 and there aren't that many rooms left Thanks

sleepless Posted June 4, 2014 #3 Share Posted June 4, 2014 I have been on the Oasis I had an ocean view balcony cabin deck 6, just aft of the aft elevators; starboard side. I love this location. So much so that I booked this same location for my B2B on the Allure beginning June 29. Yes, if you are standing up at the railing and looking straight down, the life boats do stick out just a little. This did not present a problem for me, as I did not look straight down, I looked straight ahead to see the wide mass of ocean. Also, you can hear the ocean waves splashing against the ship. I like deck 6 because it is close to everything. Boardwalk is just around the corner (for that first cup of coffee in the morning). There is a staircase behind the Aqua Theater that leads to deck 5 where you will find a peaceful, little used open viewing area of the aft. Plenty of chairs and lounges to relax in. This is also the walking/jogging track. The walkers/joggers are few, and do not affect the peaceful ocean views. Schooner Bar is on deck 6 (aft). There is also a railing overlooking the Royal Promenade. Either of these places makes a great viewing place for the parades, and various other parties/functions that are held on the Promenade. And you are just one flight of stairs from the Promenade. Dining Rooms are in the aft of the ship; easy access to the dining rooms if you want to walk (or use the elevators). Also deck 4 is easy to get to for the Casino, Theater, Studio B and Comedy/Jazz clubs. Central Park on deck 8 is also easy to get to - just two flights away. The only areas that you will be far away from is the Windjammer, the pool deck, and the Solarium. Everything else is close by. I think you will like deck 6 on the Allure. We didn't choose deck 8 but were upgraded to it on Allure and now wish we'd chosen it on our future Allure cruise. It's great to be able to pop out to Park Cafe for breakfast or a drink. Pickles61 Posted June 4, 2014 Author #6 Share Posted June 4, 2014 I have a choice of floors 6,7,11 & 14. Since 14 is under the pool area I think that floor is out due to noise. There's not many rooms left, booking at the last minute left my choices limited, but I'm going on a cruise :D

Close to JR for breakfast, one level down to the promenade and only an elevator ride up to the pools. As far as the life boats...we've been on the hump so never had a problem however, I noticed that they do not appear to obstruct the view of those cabins not on the hump. On the Oasis or the Allure no matter where your cabin, it will be far from something...and honestly if you book a room in the middle of the the level you are on the walk doesn't really seem that far. If you book an aft or forward room I can see how the walk to say WJ, MDR or theater may seem that much farther. It all depends on what you like. I will tell you this also...water pressure on 6 is outstanding and we never had any A/C problems as others have complained about being on higher levels...although I have mostly seen those complaints on the Allure. Lorey2007 Posted June 5, 2014 #11 Share Posted June 5, 2014 We were on deck 6 on Allure and I would book this deck again for all of the same reasons others have posted it was the perfect location.
reedl Posted June 5, 2014 #12 Share Posted June 5, 2014 Unless you want to go up to the higher decks all the time (pools, windjammer, and a few other places), the lower decks (6-8) are much preferable on the Allure. I was on Deck 7, and it was the perfect deck for me. One deck down to the Promenade, One deck up to the Park cafe, etc.
Rare mcatmcat Posted June 5, 2014 #13 Share Posted June 5, 2014 What I don't like about deck 7 is that there is a sign in the back by the horses that will block you from going side to side if you are in the elevators in the back. I was in deck 14 once and it got noisy at night but we didn't care since we were in super high. Sent using the Cruise Critic forums app
kunta67 Posted June 5, 2014 #14 Share Posted June 5, 2014 We were on deck 7 starboard aft balcony. We loved it because it was 1 deck up or down to Central Park and the Boardwalk
