NCL Dawn 5-30-14 Great Trip!

Parking: you can either drive thru and drop off your luggage at the terminal then go park or if you don't have much luggage you can park and bring you luggage with you. Parking was $114.00 for the week.

Embarkation: We arrived at around 10:30 the Porter was immediately there to take our luggage. We then went down the end and up the escalator thru security and check in. Check in was a breeze. We were at Bimini by 11:30. We were lucky and had Vip. Met John D'souza the concierge. He was always visible throughout the cruise. We used him once for a reservation and early disembarkation other then that we had no need. But he was still always visible if we did needed anything.

Muster drill: Painless met in one of the dining rooms, quick demonstration and we were on our way.

Sail-away party was fun lots of dancing and great music.

We ate at Cagney's for breakfast and lunch a few times thruout the week. Always top notch food and service. We also ate at LuCuchina, Aqua, Venetian and Teppanaki(great show with awesome food) as well as our late night hang out the Blue Lagoon (love the wings). Also was at the Buffet here and there, which at times had long line's. If you are a beef eater Aqua and Venetian have a huge sirloin (12oz) the Prime Rib was also awesome.

We had dinner with a couple last night and he was very frustrated because he wanted to get to a show. He said every time he ordered a soda in the dining room they take his card and he has to chase them down at the end of the meal for his card. (tip: when you get your drink ask for your card back when they hand you your drink).

We had our cruise critics meet and greet on day 2 in the Star Bar. We had a good showing of cc and officer's. This is where we met Aliane the hotel director who ended up being one of the most visible offices I have ever seen on a cruise ship. NCL should be very proud of him. He ran our meet and greet and was witty, funny, knowledgeable. He answered every question we had. We also had the pleasure of having dinner with him one night, a night to remember.

Cabin: Inside sideway cabin 10th floor. Small manageable for 2 people (room is advertised for 4) Would not want any part of that. Yenni our steward was great. She was going home to Indonesia the day we left. Hopefully you had a good safe trip home, and hopefully we will meet again on Ncl. We had a lite out that the She noticed before us, was fixed before we even new about it. We recd. our luggage before sail away. Yenni was nice enough to put it in our cabin for us.

Casino: Up and down..mostly down at the end. They had slot tournaments, Black Jack tournaments, Texas holdem tournaments. Table game's and slots.

Bermuda: read the Bermuda board. You can get anywhere on the bus/ferry system. The bus ride is a amusement ride in itself. Just sit back and relax and take in all the site's. Everyone beeps there horn in Bermuda as a hello so don't get nervous with all the horn beeping. We went to Horseshoe Bay, Tobacco Bay, Hamilton and St. George. Happy to see St George seems to be building back up again. Any questions let me know and I will try to answer.

Ship was clean, Rugs have been replaced..Washy Washy girls are still there LOL. Some of the deck chairs could be replaced.

Show's that we saw Tim ?( Comedy) very very funny. Elements awesome do not sit in he first 10 row's or part of the show you will be looking backwoods, love when all Ncl staff are on stage for farewell party. Jose and Patti are a must . See them at their first show and you won't want to miss them when they play again. They have been with NCl for a while and the never get old to watch. We did not attend a lot of show's this cruise liked all that we saw.

Disembarkation: Easy only problem could not find a porter. We ended up getting everything to the curb ourselves then Hubby went and got the car.

I have done this Iternary many times and was a bit concerned I would not be happy. How could every cruise be so good to the same place. Well NCL did it again. As we were leaving Bermuda I was waving thinking I will be back again soon I hope. Good Food, Good people, Great service, Great drinks, no cooking, no cleaning and FREESTYLE which is why I love NCL.

Sorry for any spelling, punct. etc .errors.

Thanks for the review Fremont. We'll be there in July. I noticed you said you ate at Cagney's for breakfast and lunch a few times and that you were in an inside cabin. Have they opened the restaurant up for non suite passengers at those times?

Thank you for your review! Loved reading it. We are heading to Panama Canal on the Dawn's sister ship, the Star in October. We were on the Star in April of 2013 for our first NCL cruise and were wondering if we were even going to like cruising. Needless to say, it was amazing! I agree with you, the people that work on the ship are amazing. Our Butler was from Bali, Indonesia. It is so true what they say about the Indonesian people being so gracious. I know they move around to different ships and staterooms, but I am secretly hoping we get lucky and will see him again.

There is nothing better than the Freestyle cruising. It totally fits our (my husband too!) personality and style. I love being able to eat when I want to and not have to sit with other people if we choose not to. Your review just reminded me how loyal I am to NCL. :)

We cruised on May 16, we had such a great time we are going again in October.

Was the comedian Tim Kaminski? He was on the ship last year but was filming a movie during our cruise this year, hoping that he is back!!

We were in a SC this in may with the adjoining mini suite, there were 5 of us cruising. We booked a mini suite gty for October. We may upgrade as we get closer....

I am still in contact on facebook with a Steward from India. We had him on the Dawn once as a Steward another year we found him on another floor.

Have you ever been to Boston? Hopefully you are going to be part of the meet and greet. If Alian the hotel director is running it tell him Deb from 5-30 cruise said hi. If you meet him you won't forget him and you will see him everywhere.

To the OP,

I noticed you were in an inside cabin and yet you had VIP status. May I ask how you gain VIP status? We are Platinum and have never had VIP status.

I don't know. Could have something to do with CAS. I did not ask any questions. Was just enjoying it.

Hey, Deb you VIP. I would not have reviewed the cruise much different than you. Maybe you got VIP due to the Cruise Critic Meet and Greet involvment, more probably your CAS (Casinos at Sea) credit.

That was a great cruise with great folks like you and Bill and all the good NCL employees.

Could have been the cruise critics, this is probably the 5th one I have arranged I have never recd. anything before except the pleasure of meeting great people. Could have been Cas, I just reached gold. I was not going to ask we were enjoying the benefits. So I see on another thread you and Patti booked another Suite. LOL. You know how the saying goes on the boards once you experiance the NCL suite life you can't go back. I will email you soon so we can get together for dinner and chat about the cruise. NCL employees rock! Edited by Fremont

I forgot to mention in my review after the Meet and Greet we went to the Casino for a slot pull. It was a lot of fun. NCL staff was great they gave us 3 bottles of Wine to give as prizes. We did not win any money but had fun.

They always have great offers for next weeks cruises!

LOL yes i see the price is pretty low. We have always wanted to take a week of and wait last minute to book and see what we can get for a price. Alway's chicken out I would be pretty sad if they had no room or the price went up. NH your last cruise i know you booked early. Did you watch the prices and did it ever go down?

I had an awesome time on thus cruise too. I have been looking for something this upcoming winter as I'm withdrawing.

I booked this past cruise in March. The price dropped to $449 for an inside about 3 weeks prior to cruise (I paid $699 either $125 OBC). About a week to week and a half prior to sailing the price went back up.

We learned this trick on our last cruise, too! Otherwise you'd be waiting and waiting when you want to get to the show. We quickly learned to tell them when handing the card over that we wanted it back right away.

I would love to know a little bit more about this - I'm planning on arranging a slot pull, but don't know much about how it is done - you must have talked to NCL about it??? Thanks for any info. Jan

First day I spoke to a casino host she said no problem just show the next day. I showed 10 minutes before everyone showed, met with a different host. We picked the machine and they held it for us. They also gave us 3 bottles of Champagne to give as prize's.

We each gave 20.00. Had about 15 people. We put all the money in the machine at once. We took turns it was 10.00 per pull. Once we went around twice we made a decision to continue playing what was left rather then cashing out. I kept track of who had the best pull. Top 3 got the champagne.
