Rare theminnow Posted June 12, 2014 #1 Share Posted June 12, 2014 Yahoo has an article about using a smart phone or tablet overseas and ways to cut data costs. One of the companies they mention is Boingo. Was wondering if anyone had used them and knew anything about them. Looks interesting, and would like to know more. Hope this is not against forum rules. If it is I apologize. Thanks, Craig
Padraic Posted June 12, 2014 #2 Share Posted June 12, 2014 Boingo provides wi-fi service at a number of airports in the US and Europe. I have used it and it is convenient.
Rare Hlitner Posted June 12, 2014 #3 Share Posted June 12, 2014 Boingo also provides WiFi service in many European cities (especially in Italy). If you set up an account with them you can log into their WiFi from any location they offer service. But keep in mind that it is often possible to find free WiFi in many European locations (McDonalds and Starbucks often have this service). We will often stop for some coffee/tea at a café where they offer free Wifi. Hank
I_heart_vaca Posted June 12, 2014 #4 Share Posted June 12, 2014 I have used Boingo in several cities - airports - convention centers - etc. One thing to remember is the service, at least in my instances, is auto-renew. So if you don't cancel it, it will renew each month.

slidergirl Posted June 13, 2014 #6 Share Posted June 13, 2014 If you have an AMEX Platinum card, Boingo is now included as a perk.
