riffatsea Posted June 22, 2014 #7 Share Posted June 22, 2014 Wow! Good to know! NCL is not my favorite but we'd love to go back to Acapulco. Ixtapa is right next to Xihua so it doesn't matter where it says it is porting.

Rare Clay Clayton Posted October 8, 2014 #11 Share Posted October 8, 2014 (edited) We port in Acapulco next April after transitting the Panamal Canal aboard Norwegian Sun on our way from Tampa to Vancouver. Any suggestions on how to spend our time (Wednesday, April 29th from 10 am - 6 pm) will be most appreciated from all you Acapulco veterans. TIA! swedish weave Posted October 8, 2014 #12 Share Posted October 8, 2014 (edited) We port in Acapulco next April after transitting the Panamal Canal aboard Norwegian Sun on our way from Tampa to Vancouver. Any suggestions on how to spend our time (Wednesday, April 29th from 10 am - 6 pm) will be most appreciated from all you Acapulco veterans.TIA! If you haven't seen the cliff divers, that is an Acapulco tradition. Most of the taxi and van drivers will put together a tour for you that covers the things you are interested in. Check all the tours and brochures you can find and write down the items that interst you, then present it to a driver and negotiate a price. Some things that interest me are the Flamingo Hotel ( an old movie star hangout). Casa Blanca hotel (Excellent view of the harbor and Diego Rivera painted the mural on the second story inside wall) The Diego Rivera sculpture wall at his girlfriends house, the big cross on top of a hill that privides a great view. There are other places that are great to see, but your interests may vary. My favorite driver is Rafael Villaneuva -- His brother Augustin also drives a van. I like the double decker glass bottom harbor tour boat. It goes around the harbor and passes many big name stars homes and will let you off at a bar and restaurant near the harbor entrance. Also goes over an underwater statue of Lady of Guadaloupe. If you get off, you can catch another boat (or the same one) back to the place you boarded. The tour is geared to locals, and the narration is all in Spanish. Price was around six dollars a few years ago, so probably higher now.
