Another Food Question

One night on one of our recent Ruby Princess cruises, they had shrimp cocktail available in the Horizon Court. I noticed it passing through on my way to Skywalker's and fixed myself a plate. I don't remember which night, but I'll be on the lookout for it on the Caribbean Princess. We frequently eat a light snack in the early evening since we have second seating for dinner.

There should be a shrimp fountain one evening in the Suite/Elite/Platinum lounge. It's usually on the same night they serve the Cosmo's.

Where is this lounge on what ship?

It will depend on the ship. For example, the Island Princess uses a corner of the Explorer's Lounge. The Star Princess uses the Skywalker's Nightclub. On the Pacific Princess, it's held in the alternative dining restaurants. If you are a suite/elite/platinum cruiser, there will be a card in your stateroom that gives the weekly menu and location. The time is from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm, most evenings.

DH and I are Platinum . Given the choice he wouldn't be in the same room with anything that comes from the water. I am disabled and won't go by myself. I'm traveling in a group of 12 but DH and I are the only ones who will qualify for the lounge. Will they let my sister in with me if she has my DH card ? I'd hate to miss it, other Platinum friend went with me on the Royal.

That would be cheating...

Yes, but do not use your DH's card.

They rarely check for cards. If they do, show your qualifying card and they will let your "helper" in with you.

And you have to get in line behind me because I lovelovelove the shrimp fountain!

Never did the shrimp fountain at the platinum/elite/suite lounge, but did I enjoy the smoked salmon! I had no room for dinner!

I guess I have missed out. I'm going to have to go up to the Platinum Lounge.

It's no problem to bring a guest or two with you, not a dozen, but one or two isn't a problem. My DH took his very first cruise on my first cruise as an elite. I'm sure that Princess didn't expect me to wait for him to make elite before we could use the lounge together. Sometimes I travel with a friend or two that aren't elite and it's never been a problem to have them come into the lounge with me. They pay with their own card, and no, it's not "cheating".

It's actually cheating since they're not supposed to be there, eat the offered food nor get the $5 drinks. On top of that, this person was talking about using someone else's card, which is very dishonest.

I am in complete agreement with you that each person should show their own card, but if someone's spouse, or cabin mate, or caregiver comes to the lounge with them it's cheating? Really?

Agreed :)

You can have my share. I love shrimp too, but I find that they are too wet and soggy when there's the fountain.

More for me! I haven't found any shrimp yet I won't eat. (Knock on wood!)

I think they would allow someone non-Platinum to escort a disabled Platinum person. I don't think you'd even have to mess with the card.

Bring your sister to the Platinum Lounge. Have her bring her own ID card. You will be fine.

Have a great time!

The reason I mentioned taking his card is so there was proof that they are not serving more people than they planned. I figured 2 invitations (cards) = 2 people. Smuggling booze on board or food off the ship would be cheating. Being pool chair hogs is cheating... I'm ok with them not wanting the space taken up by so many people that the "privileged" don't have room to enjoy but never thought anyone would worry we might eat too many shrimp. We don't drink alcohol but are more than happy to buy others a drink.

Not to push the point but I did mention I am disabled and if I wasn't lucky enough to have my wonderful support team helping, I wouldn't be cruising . This also gives my poor hubby a break.
