cruiseapril Posted June 28, 2014 #1 Share Posted June 28, 2014 The Serenade is listed for 10 & 11 day cruises from Ft. Lauderdale in 2016. Does anyone know if this will change and if the Serenade will be in Asia? If so, will it go there only part of the year? Thanks for any info. Clarea Posted June 28, 2014 #2 Share Posted June 28, 2014 We really won't know for sure until we see the next round of deployments, due for Spring 2015.

Considering she's a cold(er) weather ship, this could be really possible in the future as Anthem/Oasis III & IV come out. More so than Serenade, maybe since Jewel is already in Alaska Jewel could replace the Rhapsody's Hawaii itineraries to go over there?? Where is it logical for Radiance Class? Australia year round - Legend will be doing that starting 2015, Radiance 1/2 year Alaska - already there (Jewel & Radiance) Baltics - already there (Brilliance & Serenade) Canada/New England - already there (Brilliance & Serenade) Mediterranean - year round without a Transatlantic China - Quantum, Mariner, etc are already there How about South America?? Rio to Chile around the horn?? Maybe better use of the ship rather than Vision Class? Serenade could also be well used through the Panama Canal, and especially through rainy season, for it's enclosed Solariums and views.
edjny Posted June 28, 2014 #6 Share Posted June 28, 2014 I hope it doesn't I have a B2B booked. We booked Serenade cruises in Feb and March 2016. Not B2B, but one of each itinerary....
yj_eugene Posted June 28, 2014 #7 Share Posted June 28, 2014 Where is it logical for Radiance Class? The new Emission Control Areas will mostly determine this. The Radiance class are gas turbines, and thus already satisfy those requirements without modification. Until the rest of the fleet are equipped with scrubbers so that they can also be deployed in those areas, the Radiance class will probably be primarily used in those that require the most running under those conditions.. Those areas are Alaska, Hawaii, Canada and the Baltics, which not surprisingly are where they are mostly scheduled to be deployed by mid-2015. The Radiance does go down under, but it has to go somewhere off-season from Alaska, as does the Jewel to San Juan. That one does make some sense, since the Radiance class is the largest Royal has to do the Panama Canal, and the Jewel is doing a few of those trips. The Brilliance also winters in Tampa, but that makes sense too as the Radiance class is the largest Royal has that will fit under the Sunshine Skyway Bridge. The one I don't like is the Serenade going to Fort Lauderdale and abandoning New Orleans. The trip on the Mississippi River requires cleaner running, and so the Serenade was perfect for that, hence it seems odd to just leave there and put the ship where it's turbine really isn't needed. Anyway, I doubt you'll see a Radiance class year-round in any area that's not a control area like the Med, Asia or South America. What I'd like to see the Radiance do: One for Alaska/Hawaii/North America west coast One for Alaska/Panama Canal One for Baltic/Canada/Tampa One for Baltic/Canada/New Orleans

jndsilver31 Posted June 28, 2014 #10 Share Posted June 28, 2014 Since the itineraries are published through May 2016, I would say nothing changes until after may 2016 Sent from my iPad using Forums
