scubagirrl Posted July 28, 2014 #51 Share Posted July 28, 2014 (edited) I got an email from the resort and attached to it was a document that said for an all day pass it was $165 (9a-2p). Does anyone know if the $30 per person deal is for a set amount of time? The email didn't say that but it made me question it bc of what the all day pass said. Day passes are from 9am - 5pm. Haven't heard about an increase to $165, but they seem to still be in transition. Edited July 28, 2014 by scubagirrl
AmandaKaye79 Posted July 28, 2014 #52 Share Posted July 28, 2014 We had no problem bringing snacks. I brought chips and cookies, both sealed and 2 bottles of water. Everything was in my backpack. We brought our own towels. Honestly, 4 ships doesnt mean much. There were 4 ships there when we were and I would guess less than 10 people went to Melia for the day pass. Everyone we saw was staying at the resort. I don't know about $165 unless that might be for the all inclusive pass and be 9am-2AM meaning you could stay all day/night and enjoy activities. The all inclusive day pass was $110 but it ended at 5pm. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
cranshan0702 Posted July 28, 2014 #53 Share Posted July 28, 2014 We were just there 3 weeks ago. We took towels from the ship since we didn't know if they were included, but they did have a towel hut at the beach and when we paid for our passes at the front desk the lady asked us if we would need towels, we just said no since we had ours. If you get off the ship early, you should have a good chance of getting an umbrella on the beach and there are plenty of chairs at the pools and on the beach. We also took a few snacks with us (sealed, individual bags of chips, crackers) - ate a big breakfast on the ship so we didn't eat at their restaurant. Just bought a few bottles of water and they have a starbucks on site too. The $30 day pass does not include food - it's all day long, so there are no add'l restrictions on your time there. deansara Posted July 28, 2014 #54 Share Posted July 28, 2014 Did the $30 day pass include use of the non-motorized sports such as snorkeling and kayaking?

udamom Posted July 28, 2014 #56 Share Posted July 28, 2014 thanks for the info AmandaKaye, scubagirrl and cranshan! KyGirl23 that price raise would be a crazy amount of difference...did you email them back asking about it? Amanda, so noone asked to look at your backpack at all? that would be great as a few small snacks and some water would probably be enough to get us through most of the day. Probably would still get a few orders of fries or something like that. I assume they have food you can order beach/poolside.

AmandaKaye79 Posted July 28, 2014 #58 Share Posted July 28, 2014 No one asked to look in my bag. We did eat lunch at the grill by pool. It wasn't expensive. Around 10-12pp with food and drink. They add a tip in as well. You can order the food to go and eat on beach or sit under the gazebo area by the grill. cruzincindy1977 Posted July 29, 2014 #59 Share Posted July 29, 2014 Hi scubagirrl thank you for all the useful information on the Melia day pass. We are going in Oct and just want to make sure this would be a good thing to do with my 6yo son and 13yo niece. I saw where u write that snorkeling is good there and that's what my son wants to do. Can we bring our own gear? Also what do you recommend for Half Moon Cay and Grand Turk. One more thing there will be honey mooners and a young couple in our group and they are thinking of doing Breezes day pass in Nassau. Would you recommend that for them? What is included in the all inclusive price? Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using Forums
cruzincindy1977 Posted July 31, 2014 #60 Share Posted July 31, 2014 Does anyone have any pictures of the resort they can share? Sent from my iPhone using Forums
rballinclusive Posted July 31, 2014 #61 Share Posted July 31, 2014 This is a pic of the beach. Very clean. I dint have a pic but they also have 4 pools with waterfalls, swim up bar, absolutely beautiful. I think we are going to look into going back as an all inclusive fire a week. Also..... you can purchase cheaper passes from the casino. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Forums mobile app

udamom Posted July 31, 2014 #63 Share Posted July 31, 2014 cruizincyndi, the is a webcam link that scubagirl posted in this thread. It is a pretty good view of the resort. rballinclusive- did you purchase from The Wyndham casino/resort recently? I read it is $20 vs $30 but then thought I saw in another thread that since it has become The Melia (vs Sheraton as it use to be) that they are no longer sharing. Interested to hear from someone who has done this in the last few weeks. We have 14 people so I'm worried if we buy from the Wyndham and then they won't honor it or let us have enough chairs or use the beach stuff (paddleboards, kayaks etc) thanks all 12 days and counting! udamom Posted July 31, 2014 #64 Share Posted July 31, 2014 Thinking about this somemore. Can someone tell me what they use to tell if you have paid or not? is it a wristband or a ticket of some sort you get? Is this what you show to use kayaks/paddleboards etc? How much of the beach toys (kayaks/paddleboards etc) do they have? Is it usually difficult to get these? thanks again!

AmandaKaye79 Posted July 31, 2014 #66 Share Posted July 31, 2014 The casino at Melia did not open until 4:30pm when we were there. We were just walking around before catching the bus back and walked inside casino. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
rballinclusive Posted July 31, 2014 #67 Share Posted July 31, 2014 It's no longer the wyndam it's called the training casino hotel. We went to the desk at the casino and purchased wrist bands for 20$ each. There were plenty of kayaks and chairs only 1 or 2 paddle boards. Beach and pool were amazing. We were just there on 7/26/14. wazbfd Posted August 1, 2014 #68 Share Posted August 1, 2014 Hello. Thanks for all the great information. Did anyone purchase drinks, such as mixed drinks or beer. If so, what was the pricing Thanks
rballinclusive Posted August 1, 2014 #69 Share Posted August 1, 2014 We purchased mixed drinks, I Don't remember the price but they were a bit expensive. We figured we saved by taking the jittney and paying at the casino so we didn't mind. I think it was like $9.00. They were pretty strong drinks. cruzincindy1977 Posted August 1, 2014 #71 Share Posted August 1, 2014 We are going to do Melia after much research, reviews and comments from other cruisers who've been there. Also the free beaches have too many vendors bugging u, but I know they need to make money too. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
AmandaKaye79 Posted August 1, 2014 #72 Share Posted August 1, 2014 Melia did have vendors. The beach is public. But they couldn't come on the property of Melia. They did constantly walk by shouting from the beach asking if we wanted to buy anything. I saw a few ppl buying and the lady said she couldn't come show the stuff, they had to walk out to her. udamom Posted August 1, 2014 #73 Share Posted August 1, 2014 thank you rballinclusive! So the wristband for the casino purchase was honored with no problem at The Meila I take it. Seems weird they would charge $10 less pp for the exact same thing....but I'll take it!
cruzincindy1977 Posted August 1, 2014 #74 Share Posted August 1, 2014 Is it worth spending more for food and drinks? I read that you should save ur money on that. Sent from my iPhone using Forums

Scubagirrl-have you heard of anyone having any problems buying the casino wristband and the Melia not honoring it? I thought I saw something abut that in a thread but cannot find it. thanks
