firstcruiserDB Posted July 9, 2014 #1 Share Posted July 9, 2014 I'm still trying to get all of the information regarding trip insurance straight in my mind...Hope there's someone out there that can help me! I have booked the Summit for next summer, and I want to purchase travel insurance now so that it will cover pre-existing health conditions. I have booked the cruise with an online travel agent. Does anyone know if I can book the insurance on my own with an agency of my choice, or do I have to buy it through the one that the travel agent uses? His rate is better than the one I found, but I don't know about the coverage. I would feel better getting it on my own so I know what I'm purchasing. Can I do that? SPacificbound Posted July 9, 2014 #3 Share Posted July 9, 2014 You do not have to use the TA's insurance preference. Check Insure My Trip. http://www.insuremytrip.com/

BBsails Posted July 9, 2014 #5 Share Posted July 9, 2014 Type insurance into the search box. There are many threads that you may find helpful. There's a lot to know about buying trip insurance, and it's important to understand exactly what's covered and what's not. Try http://www.tripinsurancestore.com They're great about answering questions. Here's a section of Cruise Critic devoted to trip insurance: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=635 Betsy

They'll guide you to some choices that apply to your specific needs, including things like which are the best price/value for your particular age. Most policies that do not exclude pre-existing conditions must be purchased within a strict window of whenever you made the first payment for any aspect of the trip. This seems to be about 14 or 21 days, but there may be others types of policies. GeezerCouple
RJ2002 Posted July 9, 2014 #7 Share Posted July 9, 2014 We have used insuremytrip many times and have been pleased. Their web interface is easy to understand. They also have a live chat function where you can get quick answers.
