It's our first time on HAL and was looking forward to meeting people on the roll call..............but nobody's online!

Our Celebrity cruise...........many months afterwards...........has a roll call...........what's up?

Some people think 1 month ahead of the cruising date is enough time for a roll call. If someone is very interesting getting private excursions though, they should start something earlier.

On my upcoming cruise (Aug)., a cc-er started it a year ahead. By this May, the tours were pretty much full especially if a couple wanted to join.

Many folks like to linger and let someone else do the planning and then join in especially when all the menial jobs are taken.

Every roll is different...it just depends.

Cruiser Bruce is absolutely right. Some have lots of activity and others, not so much. The longer cruises usually do quite well but not so much with the 7 day Alaska cruises. I think with them there are so many first time cruisers that don't even know about Cruise Critic, there is no participation. It also depends on how far out the cruises is, sometimes your to early. Another big thing is if you have a well seasoned first poster that can get things going with his/her roll call.

The roll call for our cruise next month just started to pick up. Itinerary can play a role, too. Our European cruises have had busier roll calls as pax were looking to share shore excursions that were less expensive than what the cruise line offered. There's little interest in this on our upcoming cruise, so it's been rather quiet.

Of course, each one is different.

I see that you started a thread for your Roll Call back in December. Sorry no one has responded to date.

Maybe you can reply to your own thread and bring it foreword to the first page. There is still a time before February 27.

Good Luck.

posting a second time to move it up is always a good thing. You may need to do that a couple of more times to keep the roll call on the first page. Most people don't look too hard. But as others have said, some roll calls just never get going, just depends on who is sailing.
