Concierge Lounge ruined me!

Recommended Posts

Just off the Rhapsody yesterday from a great Alaskan adventure. I'm ruined forever because I will NEVER cruise again in anything other than a suite. The CL is the best thing ever! We spent so much time in there. The espresso/coffee machine make the suite price worth every penny if you are a coffee lover. The cocktails in the evening, and the appetizers, morning noon and night, make it even better. But most of all, I just loved going in there to sit and relax in a very private room. Our concierge made reservations for us almost every night and escorted us off the ship at all our ports ahead of the big long lines. We were extremely spoiled. That's why I'm ruined. I will never be able to enjoy a regular cabin again. I'm ok with that, we just have to save up for a long time before we cruise again. I'll be writing a review as soon as i get thousands of pictures off various cameras.

CL is nice, but we even liked the Diamond lounge a little better same snacks and free drinks but we had sea view ( we were on Navigator) , other suite perks were great

CL on Rhapsody has a great sea view! It's part of the Viking Crown Lounge. Same windows.

Yes Amit is great. I hope you generously rewarded him.

Are you saying there were appetizers morning, noon and night?

The only appetizers I have seen there are during the evening cocktail hour.

Yep, went up every morning for coffee and a bran muffin before working out at the gym. There was fruit and cheese and pastries. Lunch time there were small sandwiches fruit, cheese and a few other things. In the eve during cocktail hours there was always something different. Tons of food and always replenished. Even had crab cakes one night!!

Most concierge lounges have a continental breakfast, light lunch or sandwiches and Hors d'oeuvres at the happy hour between 5:00 PM and 8:30 PM. The specialty coffee, hot chocolate any time day or night and even OJ for breakfast.

I couldn't agree more. The coffee in the morning is the best on the ship and the cocktails are made by a bartender every night.

Last year the allure offered a hot breakfast made to order in the lounge.

It's hard to give up.

The last two were Serenade and Radiance, with the CL up in the Viking Crown with sea view and some outside seating. After being up there we jokingly referred to the CL we had on Voyager and Mariner as "the dungeon", but a very nice dungeon. ;)

The joke on Independence in Jan. is with the CL on Deck 10 with our cabin I won't need to negotiate stairs to get back to dress for dinner (there were times... ). We do the last Navigator run out of Galveston next Nov., by then we'll have "dual citizenship" unless they change the DL rules by then, to check both out.

Agree with OP completely, we are forever ruined by the CL, GS is the perfect size to feel we compromised nothing on our vacation and never feel in any way confined. Once we can manage more than one cruise a year we may change the tune, but that looks to be another 15-20 years off in the distance.

We also loved the GS and its great being able to do both, a few times there were no seats left in CS so we just went to Diamond lounge, and since we had drink package we could drink anywhere, but gold card gives you the extra perks

i agree with the OP. The Concierge Lounge is what keeps me Loyal to Royal. from the first time I used it, it became my goal to get to Diamond Plus. I'm there now and stay is cheap rooms that I can afford.

It's not just for the cocktail (Although I do love that), it is that quiet space to read, the group that you get to mix with every night and the many other special extras.

We stopped booking suites with royal when they started allowing children in the cl. Now I just read a post where they are allowing them in the diamond lounge. Some places need to be adult only. Done with Royal.

I've never had a problem with kids in the CL. They are usually well behaved and don't stay very long. Seems like a strange reason to leave a cruise line altogether!

Both my kids enjoyed the CL with us. 13 and 17. I don't think I saw any other kids. My youngest is sort of anti-people and really liked hanging out in there away from them. He's very critical and judgmental, a lot like some of the people here on CC :D I'm working on him. I really don't know where he got it. But the CL lounge was his safe haven away from the room. He was served soda and got snacks. We played cards in there a few times. It's just a nice place.

On our Celebrity cruise, children were welcome at Elite top tier events on an evening. The concierge realized that the event hours were earlier on an evening when the kids clubs were not open and went around telling parents it was not an issue for them to bring their children with them. Numerous children attended every evening before dinner with their parents and none ever caused an issue. Parents and children alike were friendly and well behaved:D
