Paulette3028 Posted December 5, 2014 #276 Share Posted December 5, 2014 I have watched this thread since day one, and the speculating has been very entertaining. Lots of people has hopes and wishes for this. But with that said, I don't think there will be a replacement for Majesty. These short trips are not sailing as full as people would like to think. A good example regarding short trips - Vision 4 day trip to Cozumel on October 9th. A GS was going for $414pp 3 weeks before the trip. There was a 70% vacancy rate in D1's 30 days out. Balcony guarantees went for $249. They ended up giving away cabins to a casino (again) 2 weeks prior to sailing, but no one showed up. I suspect Enchantment will be moved to FLL leaving nothing in Miami. Royal will replace Her Majesty in Miami....they need and want a presence there, as it compliments their choice for Corporate home.....and they have a commitment with the Port of Miami. Senior executives call the 3/4 day runs as 'cash cows' and they call it that for a reason....now they need to figure out which ship can better compete with the offerings from other cruise lines and increase the value of the 'cash cow' to the profit line. roseshayit Posted December 5, 2014 #277 Share Posted December 5, 2014 (edited) I am leaning toward Adventure, as I don't think it's necessarily in the same shape as the other Voyager ships, based on several reviews seen lately. Might as well make money off of her, as people will go on regardless of renovations. Is a Radiance class ship an absolute no? Brilliance is going out of Tampa, so couldn't it possibly have a Miami run? Edited December 5, 2014 by roseshayit

I don't know how people would not think Adventure or Brilliance is in the running as these size ships do short cruises anyway. People tend to hold some ships in very high regards, even with the Majesty begging her not to go, these will be the same people that will be on her replacement. I agree they should have a presence. But a 'commitment' doesn't really mean anything. It is probably with the parent company anyway, so they can just shift 'the responsibility' to Celebrity. The senior executives may see them as cash cows, but prices are pretty straight forward....From LMaxwell's $99 thread: Majesty - Dec 8 - $82 Majesty - Dec 12 - $97 Majesty - Dec 15 - $88 Even an SOV on 12/12 is $179. I sailed at least 30 cruises on Monarch when it was in LA, and the cheapest an SOV ever was - was $450pp if they were available at all. I just came off of the weekend on Her Majesty and had a terrific price for a SO on Deck 9, for the cabin on OUR choice. I may live in SFL and have what others think the 'luxury' of just jumping on a cruise any time, but I like my creature comforts and don't want a cabin on deck 3 that is smaller than a shoe box. If all you do is book last minute 'deals' then you are less fussy about the cabin than DH and I am. It is just what it is.

We also live in SWFL and while I will wait for some great deals, I won't be on deck 3. We like either Deck 8 or 9 on Majesty. Already have the final cruise booked. We love majesty. By far the most we have sailed on any ship. I am hoping for Enchantment, but as long as the keep the 3 night cruises, I really don't care which ship we get. Paulette3028 Posted December 6, 2014 #288 Share Posted December 6, 2014 99 total cabins including 9 suites Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Forums mobile app You are not getting a suite for $99, those lowest price cabins are interiors -- and if that is fine for you....go for it. Not me. Everyone knows that the cost of cruises has gone down from the days that you are quoting those Monarch fares from....and amenities and offerings have changed. Some cruisers wish had not changed....but they have. I stay out of the price rage war, that many want to get into. I pay for the cabin I want at what I believe is a fair price for what I am getting. It may not be the 'lowest price', but gives me what I want (type and location of cabin at time of booking) when I book it. I am not one of those, that have to have everything at the lowest possible price, to feel that I am 'getting someone over the provider of the service'. The Miami 3/4 day cruise mkt.(RCL Majesty, Carnival Ecstasy, NCL Sky) is used to low priced cruises, and if RCL is smart, whatever ship they bring in should be priced in the same range! We're hoping they're smart! That may not be the case as can be seen in San Juan where RCL charges anywhere from 20%-40% more then Carnival for basically the same 7 day cruise on very similar ships! The Majesty was magical!:)

I am hoping for Enchantment, but as long as the keep the 3 night cruises, I really don't care which ship we get. We have a special cabin that we like onboard Her Majesty, 9070. It is close to things we want to be near and we got lucky very recently. We don't usually wait until 3 weeks prior to cruising, and we got a great price and OUR cabin. Not usually happens that way. As with you Her Majesty is the ship we have sailed on the most....and simply because she is easy for us to jump on, with us living in S. Florida for a short get away. We unfortunately can't go on her final voyage, because it is the end of Passover that year (poor planning on Royals part --LOL). We will get on her one more time before she is retired. We have had great experiences on Her Majesty, and will on the ship that replaces her....but we will miss her for sure! Those 3/4 day itineraries will not disappear, I am sure. OfTheSeasCruiser Posted December 9, 2014 #291 Share Posted December 9, 2014 I was talking to a friend today and if current plans stay the way they are we will see the Jewell take over for the Majesty. Or at least that is the one being talked about most around the the corporate offices. Very interesting… On the deployment thread, I read about the possibility of Freedom sailing from San Juan beginning summer 2016, as she calls in St. Maarten on Sundays, so maybe Jewel goes to replace Majesty, while Freedom goes to San Juan to replace Jewel.. Just a thought.

Silvery Seas Cruiser Posted December 9, 2014 #293 Share Posted December 9, 2014 Does Royal want to stay in the low-price market? Once Majesty leaves, what incentive does Royal have for replacing her at all? Let NCL and Carnival keep that 3/4 day market in Miami while Royal moves on to more lucrative cruises. They are very lucrative, and they get people to try out the brand. I still say they need a real "wow" ship for this itinerary to get people good and truly hooked. I will be surprised if it is a Radiance class ship, but I'd definitely go on it! Royal is not about to just hand an entire segment of the market to Carnival and NCL. If I'm on the fence about cruising for the first time or don't have a lot of time in my schedule for longer cruises, I want to find a short, affordable cruise. If Carnival is the only one that has such cruises, when I'm ready for another cruise, I will go with what I know, rather than what others may see as a more lucrative cruise. OfTheSeasCruiser Posted December 9, 2014 #299 Share Posted December 9, 2014 Wasn't navigator suspose to sail from San juan Sent from my SCH-I545 using Forums mobile app There's been a lot of different speculation. I'm not sure about Navigator. But I do know for sure that there was talk about Freedom going to San Juan, because of her Sunday port calls in St. Maarten. I believe it takes a least two days from any Florida port to get to St Maarten, so even if Freedom left on a Saturday from PC, she still couldn't get to St. Maarten by Sunday.
