gordylad Posted July 22, 2014 #1 Share Posted July 22, 2014 (edited) Have cruised 4 times with Celebrity and our cruise in October will be the first time we have decided to have a meal in the specialist restaurants therefore decided to purchase the 4 meal package. Would anyone like to suggest a restaurant to try and a favourite dish? Ship is Reflection Thanks Edited July 22, 2014 by gordylad
KirkNC Posted July 22, 2014 #2 Share Posted July 22, 2014 In the USS United States (or it's equivalent) we enjoy the steak for two.
fatbaldbloke Posted July 22, 2014 #3 Share Posted July 22, 2014 As above though we know The Morano Grill better. Great food & a nice atmosphere. The service can be a little OTT but a quiet word to the waiter then there's no problem. I'll probably get shot down in flames here but we aren't fans of Quisine. barney50 Posted July 22, 2014 #4 Share Posted July 22, 2014 The 4 dinner package gets you 1 dinner in each of: Murano Lawn Club Grill Tuscan Grille Quisine. We were on Reflection in July and we had dinner in Murano. The service tended to be a bit intrusive. I had the milk fed veal which was wonderful. My wife had the lobster which was cooked tableside. It looked very good but was overcooked and tended to be rubbery. We also had dinner (twice) in the Lawn Club Grill. The steaks in here were absolutely fantastic and the service was great fun. I cannot comment on Quisine or Tuscan Grille. Brian
mferranti Posted July 22, 2014 #5 Share Posted July 22, 2014 In Murano/Normandie/Olympic etc.: I love the duck and the venison, and the veal is also very good. DW loves the lobster prepared tableside.
phoenix_dream Posted July 22, 2014 #6 Share Posted July 22, 2014 Let's talk about the most important stuff for a minute. The chocolate fondue in Tuscan Grill is to die for:D. We love Tuscan Grill and Qsine (although if I was only trying one specialty restaurant for the first time I would probably not pick Qsine even though it is fun - the others mentioned are more 'special'). We personally were not fans of Murano, although we have only tried it once. Fewer main course options that appealed to us, more formal to the point of feeling stuffy (to us, many don't agree). Others love it.

jan-n-john Posted July 22, 2014 #8 Share Posted July 22, 2014 (edited) I really depends on the type of restaurant goer you are. If you are a steak and potatoes kind of person, you will probably enjoy Lawn Club Grill and Tuscan Grille most of all. They are more oriented to that type of food, although Tuscan does have in addition a wide selection of other things, particularly what may be termed Northern Italian dishes. I would describe them as similar to the type of thing what you might find in the dining room of a high end country club in a well-to-do suburb somewhere. If you enjoy fine French style dining, with thick tablecloths and formal service, you will like Murano. If you are more casual in your dining habits you may find it stuffy. I would liken Murano to what I imagine you might find in an old-line classic French restaurant in a place like Naples Fl. If you have foodie tendencies and are OK with interpretations of dishes from many cultures served in non-traditional ways, in particular a series of small plates, you will enjoy Qsine. We went as a twosome, but many say it is better in a larger group because you can better share all the different dishes they offer. I can't think of any terrestrial analogies to it -- maybe someone else can think of one. Edited July 22, 2014 by jan-n-john
Rare TLCOhio Posted July 22, 2014 #9 Share Posted July 22, 2014 For Murano and Tuscan Grille, below are some of my pieces of "visual evidence" on certain items that we loved with these two dining locations. As noted in the live/blog below, we got off of the Solstice in February. Check out these postings for more info/background on these Solstice-class ships, the entertainment, food options, etc. THANKS! Enjoy! Terry in Ohio Back from doing a 14-day Celebrity Solstice, Jan. 20-Feb. 3, 2014, Sydney to Auckland adventure on this ship and getting a big sampling for the wonders of "down under” before and after this cruise. Go to: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1974139 for much more information and lots of wonderful pictures on these amazing sights in this great part of the world. Now at 67,746 views for this fun posting. For dining in Tuscan Grille on the Solstice in January while sailing from Australia to New Zealand, we started with a nice glass of sparkling Italian wine (Prosecco Spumanti). Fun, especially as the glass kept being re-filled!! One bread stick (got to save room for the later “good stuff). My first choice for “primi piatti” was this pictured crab cake with a good sauce. It’s called Polpette do Granchio. Roasted pepper caponata and basil emulsion. The main course was Lobster Papardella Alfredo (not shown here). But, the best is always saved for last . . . a nicely designed and super tasting of this Italian favorite, Tiramisu. I also had some Limoncello to top off the dining delights. Did we like it all? Absolutely!! Plus, we had lots wave action to see (and survive) from this great viewing position on the back of the ship with its big glass windows on the fifth floor of the Solstice. : My wife and I ordered Châteaubriand for two at Murano. Here is it being prepared table-side. The second pictures shows how it looked on my plate with its fricassée of baby vegetables. There were the options of Béarnaise & Cabernet sauce. I had to be fair and could not choose between these two great options. Solution? How to decide? Have BOTH!! Great decision.: For dessert, the choice was Grand Marnier soufflé. The sauce? Crème Anglaise á la Gousse Tahitienne.:

akowilm Posted July 22, 2014 #11 Share Posted July 22, 2014 In Murano: app faves were Diver scallop and phyllo pear, main course faves were Chateaubriand and lobster, and for dessert, all of them! At the Lawn Club, we loved the filet mignon and shrimp and scallops as well as the barbecue chicken flat bread, lobster mac and cheese and of course that ridiculous warm chocolate chip cookie thing at the end. We were not overly taken with the other two venues, so we finished out ultimate dining package by repeating the first two restaurants.
Andy Posted July 22, 2014 #12 Share Posted July 22, 2014 Have cruised 4 times with Celebrity and our cruise in October will be the first time we have decided to have a meal in the specialist restaurants therefore decided to purchase the 4 meal package. Would anyone like to suggest a restaurant to try and a favourite dish? Ship is Reflection Thanks Hi Gordylad, We like both Tuscan Grille and Murano very much. At Tuscan, over the years, I've always enjoyed the Rib Eye. However, over the last year or so, it's not nearly as good as it used to be. It's a much thinner cut, and not as tasty. I've switched to the Filet Mignon, and it's been an excellent choice. A couple of delicious appetizers that rarely get mentioned : The Beef Ravioli with Mushroom Truffle sauce, and the Steak Tartare (if you enjoy that type of item). Both are wonderful ! Another item we enjoy very much, is the Lobster linguine alfredo. This is generally served as an entree, but they are happy to accomodate as an appetizer. Agree that the chocolate fondue is a winner ! As for Murano : for appetizers, I enjoy the Goat cheese souffle, and the mushroom risotto. For the entrees, I've enjoyed the Chateaubriand, the Murano Lobster, and the rack of lamb. I doubt you can go wrong with any of the above, as they are wonderful meals, and an outstanding dining experience. I hope this is helpful ! QShip Posted July 22, 2014 #15 Share Posted July 22, 2014 We are probably 'foodies' and had a wonderful time in QSine. If you are adventurous and like to try new things it is perfect. The Lava Crab was so good we bought the Celebrity cookbook just for that one recipe!
