cl.klink Posted July 27, 2014 #1 Share Posted July 27, 2014 I am on Equinox leaving Barcelona 10/27 for a TA. The last few games of the 2014 World Series could be while we are still in Mediterranean. The games would start around 2 or 3 am there. Assuming I'm crazy enough to want to watch at that time (there's precedent - I got up at 3am in Jerusalem in 2011 to listen to my St. Louis Cardinals win World Series), would there be a venue on ship to watch the games, and at that time? - Joel
cruisead Posted July 27, 2014 #2 Share Posted July 27, 2014 At that time of night/early morning, the public venues will be closed, so the best you can hope for is in your cabin.
wallie5446 Posted July 27, 2014 #3 Share Posted July 27, 2014 (edited) Agree with Tracie. BUT, you may be in luck with the new GastroBar on the Equinox. It has TV's and is designed for just this situation. The only other thing would be to speak with a bar Mgr or Casino Mgr about leaving one on at the casino bar. We board when you get in! And my Sister an family live in Columbia! Edited July 27, 2014 by wallie5446
phoenix_dream Posted July 27, 2014 #4 Share Posted July 27, 2014 Speak to the Media Officer. He/she controls what is on the TV's. If it is not on their satellite feed there is nothing they can do about it - but if it is they may agree to show it.

Joel (OP): I am on the Equinox with you. I'm not a big sports fan, but if you need more people to ask for the game, I'll gladly step up (just as long as I don't HAVE to get up at 3am if it is teams I don't care about:p). Rare ORV Posted July 28, 2014 #7 Share Posted July 28, 2014 I was on the Infinity just starting a Panama Canal cruise and got to see the anticlimactic game seven of the 2011 Cards-Rangers series. After that game 6 nothing measured up. Hopefully the Cards will be there again this year. They got a bit of winning to do, but they've been worse off this time of year and still won the Series. At least they're not in last place like the Red Sox. :p

R&M1000 Posted July 28, 2014 #9 Share Posted July 28, 2014 We were on the Equinox during the World Cup finals. The Gastrobar was packed as there is at least a 70" TV over the bar and two 50" TV's on the other wall. Picture quality was quite good as well. kellyclayt Posted July 31, 2014 #10 Share Posted July 31, 2014 We also were on the Equinox during the World Cup and they played games in the Gastropub, which were always packed, but they also played games on the stateroom TV's. So, I would think that you would, at least, be able to watch in your cabin. Enjoy!
cl.klink Posted August 1, 2014 Author #11 Share Posted August 1, 2014 We were on the Equinox during the World Cup finals. The Gastrobar was packed as there is at least a 70" TV over the bar and two 50" TV's on the other wall. Picture quality was quite good as well. Good to know. But, the issue that will come up is the time of the game. Many of the World Cup games would have been not too late on the ship while in the Mediterranean. Would GastroPub still have a game at 2 or 3 AM? They are usually closed by then. It sounds like the posts suggesting I talk to the powers that be when I get on ship may be the best plan, and see if either they can set up something for a group, or inquire as to being able to see games in my stateroom. Else, only option would be to use internet to stream the stream the audio and/or video and … holy cow .. that would be really expensive. If anyone reading this is on, or will be on, Equinox, before 10/24, perhaps you can ask some of the staff? Thanks everyone for your replies! - Joel
