Good to know.. Thanks.

We're on the St Paul to St Louis trip starting Aug 23rd and hoping that they don't have any trouble putting the paddlewheel back on. Also hoping that they can make it St Paul and we don't have to be bused for the first leg of our journey. Any word on whether the American Queen can make it to St Paul on this trip?

The regular cabins (Category A and lower) on the American Queen do NOT have coffee makers of any kind. I don't know about the suites. You can ask your cabin attendant to deliver coffee or tea in the morning, but on our last trip she only managed to bring it once. That's why we like to be close to the Front Porch. I recommend travel mugs for ease of transport back to the cabin.

Thanks! Not packing k cups will save a little space in the suitcase.:)

I saw somewhere that each cabin has a Keurig coffee maker. Can anyone confirm this?

Steamboats reported that the QUEEN OF THE MISSISSIPPI has the Keurig Coffee Makers in the staterooms and not the AMERICAN QUEEN.

Calliope - Thanks. I must have missed the name of the boat on the post.

hrprof - I'll take a look at Lindblad Expeditions. How physical was the trip? Mom will be 90 years old in December so we need to pick things she will be able to do. She also wants to do an Australian cruise (doesn't have the stamina for the flights to get there) and a Galapagos cruise. She needs a traveling companion so I get the "terrible" job of going with her.

I'm afraid that expedition cruising maybe challenging for a 90 year old. We did the Galapagos on Lindblad and most of the ships there were expedition ships - every day is spent leaving the ships to walk about the islands - Zodiacs are normally used and are a little bit tough to get in and out of. The river cruise sounds perfect - we are doing the AQ Memphis-New Orleans in November - just made final payment!

BTW, I just saw a photo on FB of the totally assembled paddlewheel which is waiting to be put back on the boat today.

Does anyone know if the paddlewheel is repaired and back on the boat.

Also, we are on the 9/6 cruise from Cincinnati to St. Louis and was wondering if there is any problem with the boat getting up the Mississippi to St. Louis.

As Steamboat stated the wheel is back on the boat, and has been in use or the past week. Today the AQ is sitting at the foot of Jackson St. in downtown St. Paul with her brightly painted wheel.

For photos of the newly rebuilt wheel in use check out Steamboats' website: http://www.Steamboats.org
