sunsetme Posted August 4, 2014 #1 Share Posted August 4, 2014 Thinking of staying 2 nights precruise either on 17th st or the beach without a car. Could use the sun trolley during the day to get around, taxi from airport and to the port. Is this practical? Parking is pricey, plus cost of car picking up and returning the car, etc. Just need a few daytime activities (beach, Las Olas) and restaurants. Normal 1 Posted August 4, 2014 #2 Share Posted August 4, 2014 We stayed 2 nights precruise in 2012 at Hyatt near 17th. Used the sun trolley during the day with success. the Hyatt had a free shuttle that we used to go to 15th street fisheries for dinner. We did not need a car as there was plenty to do within walking/trolley/shuttle distance. Enjoy your trip.
CruiserBruce Posted August 4, 2014 #3 Share Posted August 4, 2014 Have cruised out of Port Everglades 4 times, staying a total of 8 nights. Never had a car. Taxi, shuttle and water taxi did just fine.
aarep Posted August 4, 2014 #4 Share Posted August 4, 2014 I would consider the Doubletree Gallery One. Next door to Galleria Mall, across street from CVS drug store and also across street about a block away from a Publix. Four block walk across bridge to beach. Great hotel with water taxi stop, also Sun Trolley at Galleria Mall or 40 bus to other parts of beach area.
eandj Posted August 5, 2014 #5 Share Posted August 5, 2014 (edited) Have cruised out of Port Everglades 4 times, staying a total of 8 nights. Never had a car. Taxi, shuttle and water taxi did just fine. We too manage without a car. One stay was 4 extra nights. The city really isn't that large and with the trolley, water taxi, car taxi, city bus and our legs...more than easy to get around. Especially in Jan and Feb when the temps are great. We have stayed on the beach at Bahia Mar and Riverside. Both were nice for us. Edited August 5, 2014 by eandj

miss Posted August 5, 2014 #8 Share Posted August 5, 2014 We use the water taxi and do a little bit of walking also. Every time we take off on the water taxi we find new things to do, places to shop, and great restaurants. Enjoy the beautiful weather
