Cruisin2success Posted August 5, 2014 #1 Share Posted August 5, 2014 We have chartered a catamaran through Capt Bryan for our day in Grand Cayman and we are customizing our excursion. We have the choice of either going to Rum Point or Kaibo for lunch. We have been to Rum Point years ago, we liked it but it was a little crowded and the food was expensive. But we'll go again if Kaibo isn't as desirable. Has anyone been to both and if so, which do you prefer and why? Thanks in advance for the help. blue_water Posted August 5, 2014 #2 Share Posted August 5, 2014 Both are nice, we prefer Rum Point because we like the beach better as well as the vibe there (usually quiet). And their Grouper BLT is great. Have a great day!
bookbabe Posted August 5, 2014 #3 Share Posted August 5, 2014 (edited) I have been to both many times, as we have a vacation home halfway between the two. I marginally prefer the Kaibo, but it really depends on what I'm in the mood for. Rum Point can be more crowded, especially on weekends and busy cruise ship days, but their beach and facilities are better for hanging out, swimming, etc in my opinion. I'd suggest looking at the menus on both websites and see which you prefer since the point of your stop is lunch. Food is good at both places and will be in a similar price range (it's an expensive island). http://www.rumpointclub.com http://www.kaibo.ky Edited August 5, 2014 by bookbabe
Cruisin2success Posted August 5, 2014 Author #4 Share Posted August 5, 2014 I have found a few videos on Kaibo but I have found many more of Rum Point. And Kaibo's web site is under construction so I can't see a menu from them and I can't even email them. Very frustrating. It looks like Kaibo is more relaxing but Rum Point is more interesting. Does anyone know which one has the least children? We will be a bunch of adults and are not interested in mingling with the kiddies. We'll be there on a Tuesday. Does that make a difference. Again, thanks in advance for all of the help.
vacationlady Posted August 6, 2014 #5 Share Posted August 6, 2014 Check the cruise ship schedule to see how many ships are in that day
bookbabe Posted August 6, 2014 #6 Share Posted August 6, 2014 Kaibo generally has fewer kids since there's less for them to do, at least as far as my experience goes. On a weekday, crowds will generally depend on the number of ships in port.
