gigi65 Posted August 8, 2014 #1 Share Posted August 8, 2014 While reviewing the sample menus that were posted for the MDR, Just curious, what others "seasoned" cruisers would suggest. I love Creme Brulee and I see that is a regular item. Is it any good? I have seen many reviews of the speciality restaurants but wondering what recommendations you have for the MDR entrees and desserts.

BARNET Posted August 8, 2014 #4 Share Posted August 8, 2014 Key Lime Pie always as long as it is not the sugar free one.
raytownlady Posted August 8, 2014 #5 Share Posted August 8, 2014 I love creme brulee too and I thought it was very good on RCI. I especially like the burnt crust on top; its my favorite part!

nelly55 Posted August 8, 2014 #7 Share Posted August 8, 2014 Another vote for grand marnier soufflé, for main the trout was really good and available most nights on Indy in May.
katrina915 Posted August 8, 2014 #8 Share Posted August 8, 2014 I grew up on homemade desserts, so creme brulee doesn't even tempt me. Key lime pie is good though.
worldspan Posted August 8, 2014 #9 Share Posted August 8, 2014 The Key Lime pie is indeed outstanding. Got the recipe many years ago when on Nordic Empress so my wife makes it at home special times throughout the year. Can't live without it! kahcarre Posted August 8, 2014 #10 Share Posted August 8, 2014 Okay, not to be Debbie Downer, but I reallllly didn't like the BBB creme brulee on the every night dessert menu. I am a big fan normally but the sugared top wasn't hard at all, and the custard was liquid-y and didn't seem to be fully set. It was almost like a flan. Not my favorite :( Maybe just a bad night/batch? BUT I absolutely loved the filet of beef on formal night #1 and the braised beef duo later in the week! (Can you tell I love beef?) The lamb was also really good and came out nice and medium rare (as I ordered) :) I also love the souffles and the bread and butter pudding! PuterMonkey Posted August 8, 2014 #13 Share Posted August 8, 2014 Grand Marnier Souffle This was delish, but on our last cruise we also had a chocolate coffee souffle that blew everything else out of the water.
Rare ReneeFLL Posted August 8, 2014 #14 Share Posted August 8, 2014 I vote for Creme Brulee. It is equally as good on RCCL as on Celebrity.

Goes Cruising Posted August 8, 2014 #16 Share Posted August 8, 2014 I always look forward to the roast duck. Cruising is the only time I really order/eat duck, but it's my favorite! I second the scallop risotto, and have successfully ordered it as an entree rather than an appetizer.
dcward89 Posted August 8, 2014 #17 Share Posted August 8, 2014 I loved the bread & butter sticky pudding (I think that's the name of it) on our last cruise. I didn't try it until the 2nd to last night and I could have eaten it every night of our cruise if I'd have known how good it was!
celly Posted August 8, 2014 #18 Share Posted August 8, 2014 Filet of beef Rosemary lamb shank Coffee Icecream and Indonesian nasi goreng with sate(chicken skewers) at lunch time, this was a nice surprise on the Liberty TA in may this year. CntPAcruiser Posted August 8, 2014 #19 Share Posted August 8, 2014 I always look forward to the roast duck. Cruising is the only time I really order/eat duck, but it's my favorite! I second the scallop risotto, and have successfully ordered it as an entree rather than an appetizer. We always used to order a duck entrée to split, but the last two times have found that it was dry and stringy. We still like the potato croquettes and red cabbage that accompany it, though. A Pisces Posted August 8, 2014 #22 Share Posted August 8, 2014 Wasabi encrusted fish fillet, scallops risotto, turkey dinner, also I thought that the fisherman's platter was very good! I love the fruit flavored cold soups! For desserts, BBB creme brulee, sticky bread pudding, and anything fruity!
ryano Posted August 8, 2014 #23 Share Posted August 8, 2014 Loved the lamb shank All desserts are "meh". If I had to pick one, I thought the sugar free key lime pie was pretty good.

debshomespun Posted August 8, 2014 #25 Share Posted August 8, 2014 RCI creme brulee is not very good. It is a heavier type. Celebrity makes the very best!! My favorite is also the Grand Marinier Souffle. Yummy!
