Heather White Posted August 12, 2014 #1 Share Posted August 12, 2014 I have read on here that only about a third of the men wear a tux. Do those that don't wear a dark suit? Or are light coloured suits/jackets acceptable?

Or are light coloured suits/jackets acceptable? Yes. A tie is not strictly necessary either, though my DH would wear one. A LOT about this on the thread at the top - read at your leisure if you have a lot of time!:)
ab21au Posted August 12, 2014 #3 Share Posted August 12, 2014 On your cruise in the Med, there weren't that many tux, mostly suits. One we saw didn't have a coat and was given one by the maître d. Most were well dressed.
Martita B. Posted August 12, 2014 #4 Share Posted August 12, 2014 I think your DH would be much more comfortably dressed (formal night) in a dark suit or dark jacket. The public rooms on Seabourn ships are chilly & after 6 pm, again formal evenings, most gentlemen will be dressed according to the dress code. Happy, safe sailing Martita B
lincslady Posted August 12, 2014 #5 Share Posted August 12, 2014 Yes, gentlemen do dress according to the 'code' but this now clearly states that 'elegant casual' is always acceptable, and no man would feel at all out of place in a sports jacket, whether light or dark, preferably but not necessarily with a tie. We have noticed this over our past few cruises, two of which have been this year.
Martita B. Posted August 12, 2014 #6 Share Posted August 12, 2014 lincslady You are always soooo helpful:p As I don't travel or sail with a gentleman I really don't know what they pack ~ but I do notice the well dressed fellows on land and at sea ~ the gentlemen wearing a Tux always look so elegant and chicy-chic ~all they really need to add to their snazzy, refined "outfits" would be a halo:D Happy cruisin' MB
