Culinary day tour, St. Lucia?

Is there such a thing as a culinary tour in St. Lucia while you're in port for the day? My taste buds always want to have a fun time! Anyone know of such a company that does one?

Try Cook Like a Lucian. Culinary class teaching local foods and cooking techniques. If that doesn't work out - definitely head over to the Castries Craft & Food market. rated #3 food market in the world by NatGeo a few years back, it has a huge selection of local and imported spices, fruits and veggies, meats and fishes. You can have a meal prepared right there with all local ingredients, and if you chat with the cook/seller, they can tell you all about the food itself, how to prepare it, etc. Great experience.

enjoy.

Dear kittyluvnurse,

On this Island ( Helen ) you will find many herbs, spices and even some of the Worlds Hottest Peppers too.

Doing your research by asking the Goverment and Chamber may be best as they would know who, where, when, how, and so.. You know the why/what best.

I am planning on A.D. December the 7th, 2014 when the dry season comes to the Lesser Ants. It is a wonderful Island in Flora.

Find out from your research what your able to bring back to Texas as that will increase not only your knowledge..but your larder in your home for your children too.

Find about educational costs being deducted too. That way your funds become more productive . \Preserve your principle always and play with your compounded profits!/

Not really wanting lessons, as it's quite expensive and time consuming. Would enjoy a tour of different places best dishes or culinary specialties of the island. Sounds like the market might be interesting....

No one does a tour of different eating places around the island. Your best bet at that point is the Craft & Food Market in Castries, which is right across from where the ships dock. Large, semi open air building with orange roof - can't miss it. In the back there is a huge open air produce market with everything under the sun that is grown on the island, in one section is the spices and seasonings from around the island, and there is also a meat and fish market. There are several local eateries in the Market which make local meals with the ingredients found there. The cooks may be happy to talk with you and show you some of their secrets...... enjoy your visit.

reedprincess,

If I am reading this correctly the Craft & Food Market is right at the relatively new cruise ship terminal. Correct?

Mope, it is not at either of the terminals where the ships dock. It is a separate building, that has been in place for many, many years. It faces the harbor, and there is only the highway between it and the water. From La Place Caranage (the 2 story terminal), come out of the terminal and hang a left, walk about 6 minutes, till you get to the traffic lights, the Market will be in front of you to the left a smidge. Cross the road, and there you are!

From Pointe Seraphine (single story port area, newer somewhat), exit the terminal area, walk through the parking lot, then up the feeder road - at this point, you can cut right through the Fishery area and come out on the highway, then turn right, and follow the highway along the waterfront. The Market will be on your left, across the highway. If you don't want to cut through the Fishery area, then follow the feeder road all the way till it hits the highway (there will be a gas station on your left, and 2 lanes of traffic in front of you), hang a right and follow the road along the highway, the along the water and you'll come to a round-a-bout, stay along the waterfront and the Market will be on your left.....It is not part of either port or terminal.

Enjoy your visit.
