NikKasey Posted August 30, 2014 #1 Share Posted August 30, 2014 We are staying at Hotel Metropole in Venice for 4 days pre HAL Med TA Cruise in October. Comments on the hotel from those who have stayed there would be appreciated. Also recommendations for transport from airport to hotel. Thanks. navybankerteacher Posted August 30, 2014 #2 Share Posted August 30, 2014 We are staying at Hotel Metropole in Venice for 4 days pre HAL Med TA Cruise in October. Comments on the hotel from those who have stayed there would be appreciated. Also recommendations for transport from airport to hotel. Thanks. Metropole is ideally located just steps away from San Marco - there are a number of fairly decent restaurants along the promenade in front of the hotel - which is clean, comfortable and reasonably priced for hotels in that prime area. By all means you should take an Alilaguna boat from the airport -- it is the only way to approach Venice: over the water. There are several routes - the Red one - the most direct one to San Marco landing (a less than five minute walk to the Metropole) just makes a couple of stops, including Lido, on the way across the lagoon - but it does not rum year round, stopping some time in October- there are other routes year round - identified by color - which also get you from airport to San Marco. You can get precise details on line by entering Alilaguna - Venice. The boat takes you direct from the airport to very near your hotel - while the bus only takes you to the transportation center - where you would have to switch to a vaporetto (essentially a water bus) or hire a water taxi anyway. Rare cruisequeen4ever Posted September 1, 2014 #3 Share Posted September 1, 2014 Didn't stay there but do recommend it. It was one we considered, has a great location, beautiful decor, and several cool movies were filmed there! RDC1 Posted September 1, 2014 #5 Share Posted September 1, 2014 We stayed there a few years ago. Enjoyed it tremendously. Took a water taxi from the ship to the hotel and from the hotel to the airport. They have a little water taxi door right off the lobby.
