birdiebill Posted September 11, 2014 #1 Share Posted September 11, 2014 (edited) I have just received an upgrade notice for the Regal 3 day in November. We had booked D511 which is a deluxe balcony. We have been offered an upgrade to B333 which is a mini-suite. We normally book a mid-aft balcony/deluxe balcony on Caribe to minimize motion sensation. B33 is one deck above our normal Caribe and slightly forward. We are going to accept. Will we be disappointed? fla_sunshine Posted September 11, 2014 #3 Share Posted September 11, 2014 (edited) I think you will be fine. Unless you are extremely motion sensitive I think the extra space more than compensates for the change in location, and it's not as if you are moving to the Lido deck or the extreme forward or aft of the ship. lovevacadays Posted September 12, 2014 #4 Share Posted September 12, 2014 I hope you won't be disappointed. I wouldn't be. A love the extra room in a mini-suite.:):):)
TaylorMace Posted September 12, 2014 #5 Share Posted September 12, 2014 This is our first time booking a room with the option to upgrade. Our friend have a balcony and we took an inside across the hall. It would be nice to be near them, but depending on the upgrade we might would accept. So, how does that process work? They really are not as common as you'd think reading these threads. However, if you were offered one, you (or your TA) would be contacted (by email, probably) and asked if you would accept or not. You are given 48 hours to decide. If they offered you something you liked, chances are you would accept. That said, they don't always follow their own procedures, and the above could all be different.

We had booked D511 on the Royal and were upgraded to a mini on Aloha. We knew the people who were upgraded to D511 and went to visit their cabin to see what it was like. Compared to other Princess ships I found the Deluxe balcony to be smaller than usual. Enjoy your cruise and your new mini...:)
ar1950 Posted September 12, 2014 #10 Share Posted September 12, 2014 Wow! We can only hope for something like this upgrade on our upcoming Regal cruise. Congratulations!
FawnRiver Posted September 12, 2014 #11 Share Posted September 12, 2014 Just a word of caution about upgrades, if you get one, keep an eye on the price of your cruise. We have two cruises booked (see below) and we received upgrades to both. Then both cruises went on sale, and we were set to pay more than the upgraded rooms were worth under the sale . Of course, we called Princess and got the price drops applied to our new rooms, although the prices were applicable to the upgrade room value, so it was like the upgrades never happened, which was fine for us because its still cheaper than what we initially booked at.
