barante Posted September 15, 2014 #1 Share Posted September 15, 2014 I just canceled a cruise, well within the cancellation period. In the past, I have always been able to either transfer the policy to another cruise or get a refund. Not this time. Has something changed? CruiserBruce Posted September 15, 2014 #4 Share Posted September 15, 2014 I have never heard of refunding insurance premiums, but have heard about assigning the premiums to another cruise if you book one. I am sure that is a case by case basis. Looked on the Cruise/Travel Insurance board, here: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=
sail7seas Posted September 15, 2014 #5 Share Posted September 15, 2014 RCL, Travelex How many times in the past have you cancelled and asked them to transfer the coverage? You may have done so more times than they wish to permit?
Krazy Kruizers Posted September 15, 2014 #6 Share Posted September 15, 2014 Many years ago we used to buy insurance the minute we booked a cruise. We decided to cancel a cruise -- lost the insurance. We did book another cruise but the third party insurance company that we had at that time, would not transfer the insurance over to the new booking. We had cancelled the cruise 3 months before final payment. Now we wait until the day before final payment to buy insurance.

Algebralovr Posted September 15, 2014 #10 Share Posted September 15, 2014 We purchase insurance every time, because of preexisting conditions. These days, I use an insurance company that lets me add coverage as I add expenses. That way, I only spend a minimal amount on insurance at the start.
