CAS downgrades perks

CAS removed a bunch of perks for Golden & VIP mid year.

VIP experience (Suite Checkin), Cagney's, cigarettes/cigars, transportation

All gone

Also big disparage between Golden and VIP VIP all you get is the global fees, a soda card and ultra drinks. Not worth an extra 20,000 points if you ask me.

Does anyone have recent experience with Golden status? I made this level on last cruise and was told that when I went on next cruise (on Dawn) in early March I will be treated with 'VIP' perks. I'm hoping for the breakfast and lunches in Cagneys:D

The Casino Host on the Star last October told me that there were going to be changes but that they wouldn't go into 'play' until April 1st 2015. Not sure what they actually will be but you should be okay on your March sailing!

As if now everything is as it was, you can still get your spa passes, cigarettes, VIP treatment (except on BA & GA) etc.

So, I called in to make my rez and was making sure I'm golden this year with my 15,030ish points earned from last year and the phone rep said it's 15,500. Website still says 15000 so I printed the page. Just hoping I am golden for November.

I am just back from the Gem and the Cagneys perk is gone as of last cruise. The right hand is not talking to the left as I was checked in as a VIP, escorted to Cagneys the first day and then was told that I was not allowed in. I was so upset after talking to a casino host and the hotel director that I almost walked off the ship. All of this after I had confirmed that the perk was still available 2 days before I sailed. We stayed on the ship and had a cruise that was somewhat dissapointing. I was Golden with over 30,000 points and the besr perk was by far the Cagneys perk. Also, when I asked for a print out or even and explanation of the benefits, I could not even get that. NCL failed horribly as far as I was concerned. Oh well

Leaving on the Dawn in two weeks and first trip as Golden. I was really looking forward to the Cagneys breakfast and lunch. Will they still let me do the VIP disembarkation with 'easy' walk off? When we were on the Dawn in December, we ended up in a line that circled the ship and took forever to disembark. Saw some people who got the VIP very short line to walk off.

How can we get that escorted walk off?

Not online. The casino host on each ship would tell me my point balance for that cruise and past cruises. Hate to admit, but if I were close to reaching a tier level, I would play a bit longer. With benefits for tier level disappearing, I guess I don't have to worry about that!

Quite disappointing! This was my first cruise as 'Golden' and I didn't really feel like we had much more than the lower level. Enjoyed the speciality restaurant dinner, but we got that at the lower level. The casino hosts can't yet tell us what the changes will be as of April 1st, but they were apologetic about all of the things that we no longer get. We were given two day passes to the spa which was OK, but not what we had looked forward to.....really wanted that breakfast/lunch at Cagney's. The 'VIP' experience was a cocktail party with the Captain and chief officers. There was no VIP embarkation or disembarkation- just our normal Platinum with Latitudes. We were given the concierge's phone number and I called to ask about disembarkation, but she said all she had been instructed to do was invite us to a cocktail party and send a couple of plates to the room. While we did enjoy getting those chocolate covered strawberries 3 times plus some other things, I really don't know which were due to us being Platinum with Latitudes or 'Golden' with CAS. I definitely would not push myself to play more to get a higher level.

I sailed on the Jem last May. I was just short of gaining hot with cas. I am currently lucky. I achieved enough points for a casino drink card during the cruise. My question is, i have booked a cruise on the dawn this coming june. Will my perks stay the same or do I have to start allover again. Thanks in advance for any help.

My understanding is that the accumulation period runs from 3/31 (previous year) to 4/1 (current year). Anything after 4/1/2015 will be separate from points earned between 4/1/2014 and 3/31/2015. Not good for your situation, but I hope this description helps.

I was just wondering how that works. Just received a cruise comp from cas and booked it for the dawn. I just don't know what else might be included.

Since you booked a comp through CAS, you should get a "Drinks on Us" card, I believe. I went straight to "Hot" on my first, so I cannot say I have first hand knowledge, but that is what everyone here says. The main thing at the "hot" level is a dinner for 2 in a specialty restaurant, but you can always ask the host if they can hook you up. On my last one, my dinner for 2 turned into dinner for 6 with 2 cocktails for each of the 3 adults at the host's discretion. Also, be sure to ask the host to review your play on the last night (don't take any cash out options) and they may take off more $ than you would receive in gambling credits. Speaking of, I think you may get $50 in points when you hit "hot" but I am not sure how that works with cashing out/host review. I didn't know to ask on the first cruise, so nothing was taken off. Good luck!

My last CAS cruise comp was a 10 day Caribbean on the Breakaway in a aft balcony as a Golden in January 2014. Maybe I was not paying attention to the perks but I do not recall breakfast/lunch at Cagney's as Golden a perk. I did get the spa passes, premium drink card, specialty dinners, and treats to the cabin. Toward the end of the cruise I made VIP and CAS changed my drink card to ultra, and I got another specialty restaurant comp plus they picked up pretty much all my OBC tab.

Got a post card in the mail the other day plus an e-mail from CAS advertising the Freestyle Choice Spectacular promo and called yesterday to see if I was eligible for anything on a 2016 Western Med 10 day cruise I the Epic. Needless to say I was pretty surprised I got a comp for a Haven spa balcony cabin (H9), and with this promo being in the Haven I will get Free Beverage Package, Free Dining Package, $300 OBC, and Free Gratuities.

Needless to say I am pretty happy about this offer :) I did quickly ask what tier I was and the agent said Golden so I will call today to see why my VIP made on my last cruise does not show up.

Very nice, the reason you did not get Cagney's is it does not apply to BA or GA since they only have the Haven restaraunt for VIP's. It was never an option for those ships.
