WarEagleLady Posted September 18, 2014 #1 Share Posted September 18, 2014 My fiancé is a scotch man, and this is definitely a key factor in deciding if we would partake in the Premium Drink Package, I know I will get my money's worth, I just want to make sure we wouldn't pay out of pocket for his favorite drinks! Thanks!
MattInFLL Posted September 18, 2014 #2 Share Posted September 18, 2014 (edited) Scotch up to $10 would be included. I remember there being a number of choices on the menu. If he wanted some super premium single malt, it probably would not be in the premium package. By the way, you don't have to buy it ahead of time. It's available on board when you board and can be purchased during the cruise for as long as there are 4 days left in the cruise. So you can board and look at the drinks menu and then decide. You also don't both have to buy it. The requirement for both people in the cabin to buy the package was dropped (in case you were thinking that). maureencruiser Posted September 18, 2014 #3 Share Posted September 18, 2014 I'm sailing another cruise line in a few days and scotch is included in their package. Apparently Johnnie Walker Blue is $22 a shot, and it is included. I'm trying to talk myself into trying scotch for the first time so I will get my money's worth- LOL! :D I actually googled "what does scotch taste like" last night. There is a website called scotchnoob.com :D Maybe your BF could give me some pointers! :p Sorry, not answering your question, I just think it's funny someone else is asking about scotch. I took pics of the menu on the Allure, let me look for scotch in my photos, I'll be back.

Some start with one of the single malts and are put off with the abundance of smoky peat or "scotchyness". Best is with just a splash of water or soda. Fat Paul Posted September 18, 2014 #8 Share Posted September 18, 2014 That list doesn't look too bad for someone who enjoys Speyside or Highland scotch, for someone who's into Islay........not so much.

Only My Opinion or One Man's Opinion (if the opinion is from a male.LOL) if not I guess it would be OWO meaning One Woman's Opinion. :-) Enjoy your cruise, especially the scotch. bosco

If for no other reason than this I may try Celebrity. Laphroaig (10yr, quarter cask and 18 yr) are my absolute favorites. Smokey, peaty and absolutely wonderful. She likes to enjoy a nice cigar and glass of brandy. I mentioned to her that she can get the same effect with a dram of Laphroaig. She is now on her way to becoming an Islay addict. boscobeans Posted September 18, 2014 #20 Share Posted September 18, 2014 Sorry! Soda meaning carbonated water or plain seltzer, not club soda, which has salts added. bosco Gotta be careful. Although the terms are often used interchangeably club soda is usually a bottled or canned mixture of soda water ( PLAIN CARBONATED WATER or SELTZER) and salt. Most soda guns used in bars dispense plain old carbonated water just like what came out of the ever present glass seltzer bottles seen in movies from the black and white era or in the good old two cents plain of the vanishing neighborhood soda fountain. LOL Supermarkets carry both, so look for SELTZER. I know the salt is only a small amount used to wake up the water, but it does change the taste of a good scotch or other delicate spirit. bosco
