POM hotel area with 2 kids

We want to stay in the Port of Miami area with our kids, pre cruise 1 night.

 

Where would you suggest that is easy walking (and safe) to things (ex. dinner) and a nice pool area? Looking at no more then $250 a night (hoping even less).

 

Not sure how to 'bid' on rooms in that area, I did it in San Juan and we got the Intercontinental, but if I bidded on rooms, what types of hotel would I be looking for ? 4 star?

Then would it be easy to grab a cab from the hotel to the Port? Or is there another way to get to port ?

There are no hotels right at the port.

 

Close ones are the Intercontinental or others around that area.

 

I would look at the Hampton Inn. You could get one room for the family and the price include a nice breakfast and Mary Brickell Village with many places to eat is close by.

 

Taxi to the port would be around $12.00 to $15.00 for the cab (not per person) and a ten minute or so drive.

If I were you I would not bid on Priceline when there are 4 of you. You might get a room with only one bed.

Hotels near the POM are Intercontinental, Holiday Inn, Hyatt, Marriott Biscayne Bay, Epic, and a few others. They are all an easy cab ride to your ship.

Just want to note that Hampton Inn is as close to the Port of Miami as some of the ones just mentioned such as Hyatt.

 

I think it's a nice one for the family.

Doubletree offers some rooms with a view of the port and a wonderful pool area; several dining options nearby or walk 10-15 minutes to Bayside.

use last minute travel, I used it this past april andstayed at the JW Marriott Miami and this upcoming Fri for the Intercontinental Miami. Have found killer rates both times
