Chelly Posted October 5, 2014 #26 Share Posted October 5, 2014 Do you ever get a confirmation from the fax? It's been a while since I sailed on a CCL Corp cruise line and always used to get an email confirmation. As I've no longer a fax machine (so last century!) I used a web2fax service and am slightly nervous as to whether it actually got there. It will take a few days before the OBC for stock ownership is applied to your account. I found out the hard way the first time I faxed my proof of stock ownership. It was my travel agent who contacted me that the OBC had been applied. drowelf Posted October 5, 2014 #27 Share Posted October 5, 2014 I always blackout the account numbers and only fax the one page that has the CCL stock. I don't bother whiting out anything else that is on that page. Ditto on that. Only fax the page with the CCL Stock and I only white out the Brokerage Account Numbers. Generally my brokerage statements don't have list more than 2 or 3 stock holdings per page. The OBC Credit instructions explicitly state that you should blackout the account numbers. drowelf Posted October 5, 2014 #28 Share Posted October 5, 2014 Do you ever get a confirmation from the fax? It's been a while since I sailed on a CCL Corp cruise line and always used to get an email confirmation. As I've no longer a fax machine (so last century!) I used a web2fax service and am slightly nervous as to whether it actually got there. I always ask for an email confirmation on the cover letter that send in with the other information (booking #, Cruise, departure dates, etc.). If I don't get anything within a couple of weeks I do a couple of things for follow-up. 1) Contact my TA and ask if she can see the OBC on the itinerary. 2) If that fails, then I call the Number listed to confirm. Remember to wait about 2 weeks, as its taken that long before for my OBC to credit.
drowelf Posted October 5, 2014 #29 Share Posted October 5, 2014 We purchased our CCL stock in 2009 for $18.24 a share..So far we've collected $1600 in OBC's plus $415 in dividends..So this stock has more than paid for itself with the brokerage fee.. Only regrets are: we delayed purchasing it for years & only bought 100 shares..;) LOL We also own 100 shares of RCL, as the Wife and Girlfriends tend to cruise those lines too. Really wish we had bought about 1000 shares of RCL as its gone up 150% since we purchased in early 2011. CCL has only gone up 25%. Its also surprising how many cruisers I talk to that don't know about the OBC for stockholders and since its only 100 shares, its not like its an incredible amount to invest even at todays prices. 3-5 or more years ago, it even better investment. Tampa Girl Posted October 5, 2014 #30 Share Posted October 5, 2014 How long before the cruise is it recommended to fax the document; and, where can I find the fax number?
CruiserBruce Posted October 5, 2014 #31 Share Posted October 5, 2014 (edited) How long before the cruise is it recommended to fax the document; and, where can I find the fax number? It is supposed to be fairly recent ownership. So we do it some time between final payment and our boarding documents coming available. If you do a search of the HAL board, you will find the mailing address and the fax number. It is the World Cruise department of HAL. I found out the hard way the first time I faxed my proof of stock ownership. It was my travel agent who contacted me that the OBC had been applied. I think it may depend on the time of year you are sending it in. If it's when the world cruisers are sending theirs in it may take a while. I sent mine in about a month ago and I think it was applied about 30 minutes later.
drowelf Posted October 6, 2014 #34 Share Posted October 6, 2014 How long before the cruise is it recommended to fax the document; and, where can I find the fax number? The brokerage statement has to be within 6 months of your cruise date, so that gives an outer range. We generally send it in around 3 months out. That gives plenty of time to confirm and re-fax if required.
goodclicks Posted October 7, 2014 #35 Share Posted October 7, 2014 I phoned today and got confirmation that the credit has been applied. The web to fax service obviously worked. I had requested an email confirmation on my fax but, so far, that hasn't arrived.

Folk Singer Posted October 7, 2014 #37 Share Posted October 7, 2014 We black out everything except our name, the brokerage account # and theCCL stock list. Never had a problem. good to know.
serendipity1499 Posted October 7, 2014 #38 Share Posted October 7, 2014 (edited) We have faxed 7 times now, the most recent last week. They ask for a partial brokerage account number, like the last 4 or 5 numbers. And then the page with your CCL stock listed, which also has the same brokerage number on that page. It should be identifiable as your brokerage account, (with your name and address visible) and an actual brokerage firm (letterhead). Pretty easy. Most everything else, like any dollar figures (other than your CCL stock) can be blocked out. We actually black ours out, knowing a fax usually makes the black totally black, but whiting out probably works well too. Sorry, but they do not require that you give them any part of your account number..The instructions clearly state that the brokerage Account Number should be blacked out... And on the actual Carnival document blacked out in in bold lettering.. http://phx.corporate-ir.net/phoenix.zhtml?c=140690&p=irol-sharebenefit Quote The benefit is applicable on sailings through July 31, 2015 aboard the brands listed below. windsor26 Posted October 8, 2014 #40 Share Posted October 8, 2014 I do not share deal at all not knowing enough nor having the resources. But I have 100 CCL shares. I bought them in late 2009 in sterling. They have increased in value by just over 1000 pounds more than we paid. We have received dividends every year (5 years) We have received back $1500 over the cost of the original shares back in obc so why would I go to the trouble of buying and selling every time we cruise???????? goodclicks Posted October 8, 2014 #41 Share Posted October 8, 2014 Can you say which web to fax service? I would l like to get rid of my fax machine. I used popfax.com. There are several other free to use services. I worried about privacy, but as I'd blacked out my account number I didn't think there was anything too sensitive. I took a screen grab of my broker statement and then added the info required in writing to the .jpg file before uploading it to the fax service. There was an emailed confirmation from popfax but there was no way to accept a fax in return as far as I could see.
