Hi all

We're about to book a cruise on the Silhouette in December this year. I'm looking at an Aqua class room. Can people please advise what the fundamental difference between A1 and A2 rooms is please?

Also, whereabouts on the ship would be the better AQ rooms and why?

Thanks in advance.

The only difference that I am aware of is the relative position on the ship. All Aqua rooms are on Deck 11 and therefore only those that are listed as Aft have the cushion from noise of staterooms both above and below. All Aqua Aft cabins are A2 category. Those that are listed as Forward (again A2) have the Salon, spa and Gym etc above them. We have had cabins in this area twice and have not been inconvenienced by noise at all. For us the advantage of these is that there is no overhang on the balcony - we like the sun! A1 rooms are midships and therefore should not feel as much ship movement as other locations. However, they have the pool deck above them and the balconies have quite a large overhang.

Which is better? Depends on what you are looking for - we like forward, also for the fact that we need to walk the ships length at some point to get to the restaurants. Helps us excuse those extra calories we're eating. We've also had an aft cabin before (not Aqua) and again we got a lot of exercise. There is a bit of an overhang, but not as much as midships. Have a look at the sticky that has a spreadsheet with pros and cons of different cabin numbers, to help get a better idea of what would suit you best.

A1 and A2 cabins are the same size and layout. The difference is the location on the ship. Although both categories are on the spa deck, the A2 cabins are toward the front or back of the ship while the A! cabins are in the center. IMHO the best cabins are A1 cabins on the "hump" as the patio's are larger.

For the S class

AQ 2 are along the side of the side near the front and rear with small overhangs and doesn't offer as much protection from the elements.

AQ1 are in the middle of the ship with the large overhang and some have the large balconies on the slants. These cabins offer more shade and protection from the elements.

All cabins are the same size and offer the same perks and etc.

The difference is the location. They will all have some issues with noise from the above deck. It could be from the treadmills, deck chairs, foot steps, and etc.

Happy cruising 🌊🚢🇺🇸🌅

I agree that these have larger balconies but aren't they officially designated as Aqua Suites rather than an A1? The Celebrity website seems to indicate that A1 and A2 staterooms both have the same size of balcony: 54 sq.ft.

The website shows the same size balcony but in reality there are some cabins with larger balconies. The ones on the slant have larger balconies.

Many thanks for the extremely quick replies. The 'stickied spreadsheet' was very helpful. We were already sold on AQ, we just needed to choose the room. Will call the TA and confirm our booking now.

Thanks again.
