HippieChick02 Posted October 29, 2014 #1 Share Posted October 29, 2014 Just booked the Rays, Reef and Rum Point tour through NativeWays for our cruise in December. Website says it's 9 a.m.-2:15 p.m. Our ship (Independence of the Seas) will be in George Town from 8 to 5. I don't know anything about tendering as in last tender back to the ship. After our excursion, will we have time to see anything else? I would love to take a cab over to Pure Art and/or Smith Cove too.
mrsfuzzmo Posted October 29, 2014 #2 Share Posted October 29, 2014 (edited) If all goes as planned and you are back at the drop off point (which is usually around the port area) at 2:30 or so, you can catch a cab to Smith Cove right there. It will be a short drive, but be sure to arrange a pick-up time, or pay them to wait so that you have a ride back into town. Generally, last tender is 30 minutes prior to sailing. So, if you are sailing at 5:00, then 4:30 ship time would be the last tender. (READ YOUR DAILY NEWSLETTER - it will have very important tendering info including last tender times on it). You would DEFINITELY need to be on that last tender, or you'll be flying to your next port of call. We usually, as a rule of thumb, get back around the tender dock at least an hour prior to the last tender, then find a place close by to sit and have a cold beer or cocktail and wait until one of the last tenders. (Someplace we can "see" the tenders, of course). It's fun to spend the last hour or so just hanging out and relaxing watching everyone scramble back to the ships. Capt_BJ Posted October 29, 2014 #4 Share Posted October 29, 2014 for an extra $20, most tours are willing to do a diversion .... I've even seen many stop at Sunset House for a snack b4 heading to the tenders . . .
Marie51 Posted October 30, 2014 #5 Share Posted October 30, 2014 cool, thanks for the info! I just did the Rays, Reef & Rum Point last week. We were back at the pier at 2:15. So you should have a couple hours before the last tender.
