Live from Explorer's 14 Night Repositioning S. Caribbean cruise to Port Canaveral

Recommended Posts

We were there only once but the photos I have are gorgeous. Love how the buildings reflect in the water.......a very colorful place. Would love to go back there again!

Enjoy the rest of your cruise!

I think Curacao has one of the prettiest port areas of all the Caribbean islands. I have always enjoyed our various returns to this island. I never get tired of it.

Here is a deep, profound, philosophical question to ponder:

On a ship with 3,031 passengers, of whom THIRTY are children.........

why does there have to be a "late night comedian"?

Can we really not just have him whenever we want?????

Talk amongst yourselves.

So your convenience is more important than the families and kids? Sorry, but that's just an elitist thought by you.

So, you came all the way over from the Carnival Boards, after a year and a half, to use your third post to say something snarky? Really???? :(

OK ... moving on ...

I couldn't agree with you more. That post was 9 days ago, for crying out loud! Ignore them Carol - keep up the great job on your review. :)

Snarky? No, just calling it like it is. I don't much care for some cruisers elitist attitude.

And by the way, I don't hang ot on the Carnival boards, I have never even sailed with them.

Carry on.....

I just don't see it necessary to call the OP a name. Carol is doing a great job filling us in on the Explorer's repo cruise. She was simply making a valid comment, something to ponder with respect to the passenger make-up of that particular cruise.

Goats, goats and more goats! LOL

That is what I remember most of our trips to Antigua....the goats. They were everywhere!

Thanks for all your hard work....great thread! I'm getting through our LONG countdown (423 days to go) through your wonderful stories.

What is that snake eating? Is it a baby rabbit? :D:eek::rolleyes: You would think that feeding should be done at home. Or is it something on his shirt? Interesting photo.

OMG....I didn't realize it was eating a baby bunny....that's icky. :(

And now I discover that my uploads on this album are all messed up. I am going to have to fix that before I can post more pictures of St. Lucia.

<sigh>
Sorry about the long break in the narrative. Major uploading difficulties. I believe that I have straightened everything out now.

But you at home have no idea about the "real time" of my cruise, so it really doesn't matter! ;)

We now have two sea days before we bring the Explorer to her new home port of Port Canaveral, so I expect to finish my report in a timely fashion.

:)

Here we go again. Back to St. Lucia and the volcano.

This is the world's only "drive through" volcano. (their phrase)

The temperatures are well above boiling. I took some video of one of the bubbling mud pits, but I will post that separately.

A number of years ago, a guide fell into one of the pits and was severely burned, but survived.

It rained off and on all day. It was highly localized. In talking to people who had done various tours, some got much more rain than we did, and some far less.

Most of "our" rain fell while we were in our van!

We went to the waterfall near the mud baths. No one in my van wanted to do the youth-inducing mud baths, so we skipped those. Only a couple of us went under the waterfall.

I LOVED it!

There was an initial shock of "cold", but then it didn't feel all that cold.

Notice the people behind me with mud all over their faces.

But the volume and speed of the water was "bracing"!!!!

Then we went for lunch at a lovely hotel/restaurant called La Haut. After the buffet lunch, some of us went in the swimming pool that was there. It was a very pleasant "end" of our day. (we still had a long way to drive back)

It is a very long day because of the great distances up and down mountains, on winding switchback-filled roads.

Back in Castries, I saw these two school girls in their uniforms:

More school girls with a market in the background:

Back at the port:

Interesting clouds:

And thus ended our sojourn in St. Lucia. :)

He drives barefoot.

He is a native Bajan.

He loves and knows everything about Barbados.

He is absolutely wonderful.

And so our visit to this lush island begins. Edited by Merion_Mom
