Non-Platinum traveling with Platinum?

I am traveling with my father (in my own room) on the Miracle out of Long Beach in January. My question is this...

 

Will I be able to check-in, sit in the priority lounge , and board with him ? Also, will he get priority tendering and if so will I?

 

Anyone else had a recent experience like this on the Miracle or other ship?

 

(I looked into purchasing the FTTF but they are all sold out)

I read this in another post. Anyone find it accurate, because yes, they will be sharing a sail and sign account.

 

"Note: For those guests traveling with an additional stateroom that does not fall into one of the three categories above (VIP, Platinum or FTTF), the additional stateroom may check in through the VIP Program only if, 1) there are minor children traveling in the additional stateroom, or 2) the guests in the additional stateroom share the same Sail & Sign account with the qualified VIP guest. "

that might be an old post. they closed that loophole. If someone is not eligible, I dont think they will allow it

I am platinum and my non platinum friends who were in my cabin have always checked in with me, had priority tendering with me and priority debarkation. I have cruised out of Long Beach, San Diego, Ft Lauderdale and Galveston where this has been the case. :) When not in my same cabin they have been able to tender and have priority debarkation with me. Not sure if we were just lucky.

My understanding is that you would not be able to board with your father as you are not in the cabin with him. As previously mentioned, the loophole was closed because many people were telling others to put Mary, Johnny, Sue, Tony, etc etc etc on your card and when you got onboard to go to guest services and they will set you up for your own account.

 

It wasted too much time for the guest service personnel and others who had "real" reasons to be there were complaining about wait times. Your S&S card won't be in the same place as your father's. In all reality, if you get to the port early or late (not just when everyone is boarding) you probably will both get on the ship about the same time.

 

The Platinum benefits your father has earned will not be shared with you. He will get priority tendering, but unfortunately you won't. Now, I won't say someone won't cut you a break perhaps, but don't count on it because too many others have abused some of the privileges and like most things, they have ruined it for others.

Carnival made us split up in two my daugther and I in one cabin she is 19, her friend and my husband are in a different cabin her friend is 24.

 

All of us are on the same onboard account. Does this mean they will need to check in separate or will they be considered minors since they can not have their own cabin? If separate, can we all just go through the regular line? I am not comfortable with them checking in on their own.

And we have ALWAYS checked in together as platinum. Daughter and I are in one room and hubby and friend are in the other. Once we get on board we switch things around. We are all on the same card for charging privileges.

Keep checking for FTTF to open up. Check every day. Sometimes people cancel as it gets closer, and sometimes they add another group of them if they don't have a large number of plat. on the cruise. For $50 your problems could be solved!

You're situation is different, you have a platinum guest in each cabin. The priority boarding, tendering, ect will extend to those guests in your cabin. They will not split up the cabin occupants for boarding purposes.

 

As others have replied the "loop hole" to allow other cabins to board if they were on the same sign and sail has been closed. The only way another cabin can board with a platinum guest is when you have minors in that cabin. I'm sure there are cases where the workers at the pier have allowed other cases, but that is not the norm or the written rule.

Since it is just the 2 of your traveling I would think they would let you board together. Be nice and just ask. The worst that can happen is that they say no.

We have a bit of a different problem

 

When we first booked only our older dd and her boyfriend were going so dh is in a cabin with the bf and i am booked with the older dd. great both get platinum boarding........... now thankfully younger dd's boyfriend was able to get the time off do they are coming with us ........... but no platinum or fttf for them :(

 

I have never tried to misuse the platinum vip boarding, but I think I will give it a try this time. If they send the kids to the other line then oh well at least i tried :rolleyes: This will be our younger dd's first cruise as an adult ( her and bf are 23) so she has never had to go through the lines on her own.

Since you are in separate cabins, you probably will not be allowed to wait in the VIP lounge/area with your dad. But he can wait in general boarding with you.

My mom and I sailed Victory together last week. I am Platinum, she is not. Since we shared a cabin, she was allowed to go to the Captain's Lounge in Miami with me and her Red S&S card was made right there. Mine was already there.

Regarding tendering, the father is allowed to bring up to five people so OP will be able to tender with him.

If you paid for FTTF, it will read FTTF and you will use the FTTF.

I am perfectly relaxed and happy wether I'm people watching on embarkation day or sleeping in while waiting for a tender. Matter-of-fact, I am having a blast just working my way to platinum level (only two more cruises).

Go to guest services the morning that you are at the tender port before tendering starts to find out where the meeting point is for the escort to the tender. Last month for us it went really smoothly. All the Plats/diamonds/FTTF met in the atrium near guest services iand were led by a crew member to an elevator down to deck zero.

DH and I are Platinum and so are friends we traveled with, but their friends were not and were not allowed to tender with them. If that policy is wrong, then hopefully, it's been corrected on Dream.
