Got a large amount of OBC with the 123 go package. and asked can i draw cash in the Casino from my on board credit.

Ive got the headache. Lol.

Can i draw CASH in the Casino to use ANYWHERE. Even if it costs me 5 % ?

Or can soneone explain slowly to me what the posts are telling me please.

Totally confused. 😉

Yes, you can withdraw cash at the casino if you are willing to pay the 5% surcharge. You can then do whatever you want with the cash.

Not sure, however, what you mean by "use ANYWHERE". if you mean off the ship, then the answer is yes. If you want to spend the money anywhere on the ship other than the casino you would be better not to draw cash but put the spending on your seapass card [and save yourself the 5%].

Exactly. Not sure what I'd spend it on. All drinks and tips are paid. All our excursions are private tours and we think the specialty restaurants are not really worth paying extra for. What else is there besides shopping? I will probably but a shirt buy I'll still have over $250 of Celebrity's money to use or lose and that's not counting TA money. But I can get TA money back.

enjoy

You can use it on an over-priced massage.

Thank you. Now I understand. Will be using a lot on board. But will be nice to draw some to buy a meal or drinks in Port. Rather than spend it all on board just for spending sake. I intend to enjoy some specialty restaurants and some treatments too.

Thank you for your nice reply.

Hmmm. I was of the impression that you couldn't use obc in the casino????

Sure you can use your OBC in the casino. Not that I ever wood!:D (not a gambler).

Also' date=' what we are trying to say is that you can [i']redeem your [/i]OBC in the casino for a 5% fee.

I beg to differ. With some of the current promotions from Celebrity, we are not dealing with small amounts of obc. On my next sailing I'll have $500 obc with gratuities pre paid, and drink package included. Friends on the same sailing have $800 obc plus the perks.

Even with the 5% surcharge, using obc in the casino might be desirable to some.

I agree it will be difficult to spend if you intend to avoid Speciality restaurants, spa, excursions etc. Before you run off to the casino double check what kind of obc you have. OBR is refundable and OBN is non-refundable, you can check which you have on the in-cabin TV. It is very unlikely all your OBC is from Celebrity, I bet a large percentage will be from your travel Agent and that is OBR. Celebrity policy is that OBN is used first.

If you have OBR remaining, go to Guest Relations change your account to cash only (not Credit Card) and they will refund you the balance in cash, I did this last week without any problem aboard the Eclipse.

The 5% is not "taken" from the cash you get, it is a charge to your account. So, be sure to leave that amount of your obc on your account to pay for the cash out.

i.e. $100 obc is a $5 charge. Take out $95, they will put a $4.75 charge on your account, and the remainder of your obc ($5) will pay for it.

Currently at on the Eclipse and just spoke to Guest Relations on this topic. The answer depends the nature of the OBC and how it is coded in the system. Most OBCs paid by a TA are fully refundable (to the passenger) and can be used for anything onboard including in the Casino (they charge 5% to use onboard accounts). If the credit was issued by Celebrity....it depends on the coding. They can be used in the shops and for the usual onboard items, but may not be refundable or usable in the Casino. The best advice is to stop by Guest Relations (early on your cruise) and have them review your account and explain the options.

  • 3 weeks later...

I experienced just about everything in this thread.:)

We had $300 OBN (from X) and $475 OBR (from the TA)

I stopped by guest services and they told me that they took the money from OBN first.

I went to the casino and took out $200 and $210 was taken from the OBN account.

I spent an additional aprox $100 on gifts and Bistro on 5.

The night before we got off of the ship, it stated that we had a $462 credit.

The day after we got off of the ship $462 was put back on our charge card.

Nice! They did what they said they would do.:)

Go to casino cashier, tell them the amount of cash you want, they will say "you do know there's a fee?" And make out a chit for you to sign. If you want $200 in your pocket, the receipt will show $210 charged to your SeaPass acct. they may ask in conversation, "what game will you play?" And you can just say that you don't know yet.

Somewhere it says that OBC from Celebrity can't be used in the casino but that's never been true in practice
