Rare LMaxwell Posted November 30, 2014 #51 Share Posted November 30, 2014 Royal has known the FOS has had this issue for sometime and instead of canceling sailings fixing it they are choosing to continue to operate a ship that may or may not have further issues while at sea. Every ship operated at sea may or may not have further issues. I have no reason to believe Royal has not been proactive with regular maintenance. Like I said "Ship Happens". Thing break or malfunction. A dry dock is scheduled for less than 2 months from now. I don't believe Royal would knowingly ever put any guest or crew member into what could be a dangerous situation. Offering their guests a very small OBC (which is giving you money to spend on their ship on their stuff) seems less than good customer service. They can offer $0. Also, you can go to guest services to cash out the OBC that is "refundable". If it is "non-refundable" go to the casino cashier and request the money. This second way will cost you 5%. Offering a 25% future cruise credit that is only good for 1 year is not much to a family that may have saved for a few years for their vacation of a life time and may never sail again. They can offer 0%. If you really, truly, honestly feel there is a safety issue that is going to impact you or your family don't get on the ship. If you feel something about the change of itinerary is going to negatively impact you financially don't get on the ship. No amount of additional OBC or future cruise credit will actually mitigate that.
FluffsMom Posted November 30, 2014 #52 Share Posted November 30, 2014 Only strange thing is that the email came in as Bulk, and the reply from a company called everbridge not to Royal...not sure about this source and who they are. Everbridge is a company that makes and sells software and services that their customers use to send mass communications. dorisis Posted November 30, 2014 #53 Share Posted November 30, 2014 They sent texts, emails and phone calls to all passengers. I just checked and so far we have not been informed. We will be driving over, so will adjust our leave time,

southstaffs3 Posted November 30, 2014 #58 Share Posted November 30, 2014 A heads up. The captain has announced a delayed arrival of 2hours in to Port Caneveral tommorow due to strong currents. The ship will be docked by 8:15 with disembarkation to start right away. May be a bit delayed in boarding. CBP could easily delay disembarkation. Phones are being made availble to allow people to change flights.. We missed Caymen and were delayed arriving in Labadee. In the eastern leg that left on he 16. There was a delay arriving in to st Thomas. They left Cozumel 2 hours early to avoid delays. But the currents were too strong She is on her way in to port :)

fish6 Posted November 30, 2014 #62 Share Posted November 30, 2014 Would anyone know if this is going to affect the following Western sailing? Are they actually fixing this issue when the ship is in Nassau? My BFF will be so disappointment if we don't make all of the ports :(

ATC cruiser Posted November 30, 2014 #66 Share Posted November 30, 2014 I think I know how I'd be filling out the medical check in form, I have a feeling the ships doctor is going to be busy today Aft Cabins Rule
papaflamingo Posted November 30, 2014 #67 Share Posted November 30, 2014 We have friends going. It's disappointing, but it's still a cruise. I was supposed to go but switched a number of months ago to go with another group. I'm glad now that I switched, but in reality we spent 2 out of 4 port stops on the ship. There isn't a whole lot of difference between sitting in Nassau enjoying the ship, or being at sea? I still understand the disappointment, I was almost on her myself. But unless there is some sort of inconvenience due to the repairs, it'll still be more fun than going to work. Hope y'all enjoy the cruise. emerald777 Posted November 30, 2014 #68 Share Posted November 30, 2014 So what does happen if you say you had been sick or around someone sick on the medical form? Always wondered. Do they not let you on the ship? Do you get a refund?? Lose your money if you don't have insurance?
Clarea Posted November 30, 2014 #69 Share Posted November 30, 2014 So what does happen if you say you had been sick or around someone sick on the medical form? Always wondered. Do they not let you on the ship? Do you get a refund?? Lose your money if you don't have insurance? There was a recent thread where someone was examined by the medical staff and deemed unfit to travel. They were not allowed to go on the cruise. I forgot the outcome with regard to refunds. Ocean Boy Posted November 30, 2014 #70 Share Posted November 30, 2014 Been doing it for many many years. Hawaii and Bermuda are 2 of the regulars. Maybe so but 2.5 days in Hawaii or Bermuda don't quite equate to 2.5 days in Nassau.

Do they not let you on the ship? Do you get a refund?? Lose your money if you don't have insurance? Interesting question. If you do get sick and can't make the cruise without insurance you don't get a refund. So why would it be different if you show up at the port claiming to be sick? However they might be more willing to help out with a future cruise credit if they turn you away. Not sure I'd take the chance just because I don't want to go to Nassau for a few days. It's a big risk. If someone does check "yes" and gets turned away, let us know what happens about refunds. Would be good to know.

Sometimes the compassionate route is to let them vent. RCI can thow the contract and the "facts" at them. But, of course, that is just my opinion. Sometimes the compassionate route is to let them vent. RCI can thow the contract and the "facts" at them. But, of course, that is just my opinion. I'm not stopping anyone from venting. I acknowledged it is frustrating. I'm just giving the best advice that they are going to meet a stone wall if they go in firing away at a pier check in agent to get them to sign off on some silly legalese. Not like I am going to cheer them on to doing something that is totally fruitless. They should do whatever causes them the least grief, which at this point includes the option of not boarding if they don't feel safe in doing so. I think the compensation package is fair. siestaclaud Posted November 30, 2014 #75 Share Posted November 30, 2014 This may have already been asked - but - is do you think that some of this issue will be fixed while the ship is in Nassau for 2 days this week? We are scheduled to go on Dec 28th - NYE cruise - paying almost double the regular fare due to holiday! ugh!
