What's in your shell?

So over the years I have seen the amenities bowl in the bathroom go from "Oooohh, I'm gonna buy this when I get home" to..."A coupon...really!!" I hear from some cruisers that they got a basket full of stuff and then to "the tumble weed got a paper cut on the stack of coupons that were stacked in the bowl" So on your last cruise what was in your shell basket?

On the Miracle to Hawaii in October--

Breathe Right x2

Toothpaste

Dental pick

Unburn (sunburn relief)

Extra bar soap.

Bonus-- it was refilled mid cruise so we got doubles. Wonder if that's normal on a 15 day cruise?

Does anybody use the Breath Right strips? They don't work for us.

Hi Cowgrlkirby :)

During our last Carnival cruise our amenities basket had breathe right

strips and dental floss in it.

When I met our cabin steward on the 1st day I asked him to remove the

refrigerator contents, as many passengers do, so we could put our own

drinks in it.

At that time I asked him if he had any other items he could place into

our amenities basket.

When we arrived to our cabin later that day; advil, toothpaste, razors,

cough-drops and more breathe right strips were added.

It never hurts to ask..

Have a wonderful day!

I suppose it never hurts...lol! I will have to keep that in mind. I always walk by the cart and see stuff and I'm like " Hey...I didn't get that" lol If only I could make off with the big bowl of chocolates I may be OK with only a tube of toothpaste :D

We were on the Glory a couple weeks back. It wasn't until mid cruise that we (DW & I) were talking about cut backs. It was then we realize there was no "Shell Bowl" in the bathroom. Didn't miss it tho. Rarely has anything we'd use.

Those are not Carnival cutbacks, especially since Carnival did not pay anything for those items. Items that ended up in the shells are samples that companies like Unilever and Johnson & Johnson sent to Carnival to be placed in the cabins in hopes you would try them and purchase them when you got back home.

Companies have cut back on this practice the past couple of years, which is why you now see no or very limited samples.

I threw a bloody fit, went to GS & then to housekeeping management.

I know what some one will say & no I didn't even think to tell our steward. But what would I tell him wash the shell now & then. Not my job

Ahhh... Gross!!!! I would have freaked out myself... Makes my skin crawl. I know they clean after every sailing but my commercial strength clorox wipes always travel with me just for this reason.
