chrismakris Posted December 2, 2014 #1 Share Posted December 2, 2014 Hello, The itineraries for Galapagos 2017 have come out. I have made it my goal that this is my 40th birthday present to myself. We will be travelling in September. My question to you is which itinerary is better? Inner or Outer?
Rare cruisestitch Posted December 2, 2014 #2 Share Posted December 2, 2014 There are dozens of reviews here: http://www.cruisecritic.com/reviews/review.cfm?ShipID=340 They make for interesting reading, and may help you make up your mind.
jcrandle Posted December 7, 2014 #3 Share Posted December 7, 2014 We did the inner itinerary in Sept 2014, and were very happy with it. That said, we didnt spend a lot of angst about the outer itinerary, but considered them equally attractive. In either case, you will likely have a marvelous experience. Rare Host Jazzbeau Posted December 7, 2014 #4 Share Posted December 7, 2014 Both appear to be itineraries great. The choice may come down to which particular things are on your to-die-for list and what time of year you decide to visit. We decided on the Inner loop in May because it includes North Seymour Island and the Blue Footed Boobies should be doing their mating dance then. But you would choose a different itinerary and different month to see Waved Albatrosses. Here's a link to a downloadable pdf with lots of details about the island and the seasons on Galapagos: http://www.pdf-archive.com/2014/12/07/galapagos-islands-description-and-calendar/
Phxazzcruisers Posted December 7, 2014 #5 Share Posted December 7, 2014 When we did the Galapagos they did not have a choice. That being said, the islands are a magical place and I do not think you would be disappointed with either loop.
Merriem Posted December 7, 2014 #6 Share Posted December 7, 2014 We did the Galapagos 10 years ago. It was delightful! We go back in three weeks. Not sure what loop we are taking..just enjoy..it is all beautiful
macaroni Posted December 7, 2014 #7 Share Posted December 7, 2014 We took the cruise a few years ago....I would pick the itinerary that includes the only place you will see the waved albatross...forgot which stop that was....
chrismakris Posted December 8, 2014 Author #8 Share Posted December 8, 2014 How many of you did the 7 day instead of the cruise tour. It looks like quite a bit extra as opposed to booking yourself. Is the embarkation port on the same island as the airport? If you go on your own, do you meet up with Celebrity at the airport or do you go straight to the dock? Merriem Posted December 8, 2014 #9 Share Posted December 8, 2014 We did the 11 day 10 years ago, and will be doing the 10 day this time. It is so convenient as Celebrity really takes care of everything. You must spend some time in Quito..lovely city. It also includes your air to the Galapagos and park entrance fee. Rare Host Jazzbeau Posted December 8, 2014 #10 Share Posted December 8, 2014 My understanding is that Celebrity charters a Boeing jet from Quito to Baltra for those taking the 10 or 11 day packages. If you book cruise only you must arrange your own air transfer on a regularly scheduled flight -- and they have much more stringent limitations on luggage.
