Winning a Celebrity Cruise

Yup, makes a huge difference. Celebrity has in most cases nothing to do with the contest, only the product, so in all respects they can be of no help, only the venue thru which the product was awarded can give you answers.

The OP was very clear. They won it on a Celebrity ship. Obviously, they (X) CAN do something about the contest. There is nothing confusing.

For speciality situations like winning an onboard cruise try:

Calling in and getting an agent will be hit or miss... Captains Club Agents are generally more trained so either they or a supervisor can get this resolved. For them it's not as simple as booking and grabbing a deposit from you, for you it requires a Celebrity Agent a bit more experienced than the regular call in number.

A friend of mine won. What I said is exactly what they did.

The certificate has a value. The one my friend won was the same value as the cruise they were on (7 days inside). They were able to apply that value to whatever cruise they wanted.

You asked a question. You got an answer.

So what exact problem are you having. Does Celebrity not have a record? Are they saying you can't book a certain cruise. Exactly how is Celebrity not responding.

If you are treating Celebrity like you are here no wonder they are not responding. So you got the same answer as the instructions. What did you expect some magic formula different then the instructions.[/quote

Too funny. When I ask a question on CC, I hope to get the right answer, not just any answer. "Exactly how is Celebrity not responding" I don't know how to make it any clearer: I call them, they don't return the call; I email them, they don't email me back. Where I live we call this "no response" That means I got no answer, nothing, nada, niente.

Again, the instructions are perfectly clear and I have followed them precisely with no (dare I say this?) response from X. Several helpful posters have suggested the Captain's Club -thanks for the good advice- and I will try again.

My in laws are part of a very exclusive group, so I really didn't think anyone could give me precise personal feedback. I was right.

" I really didn't think anyone could give me precise personal feedback."

??? So why did you ask ????

Yes, you could be clearer. You say you call them. Exactly who did you call that doesn't return your call. Captain's Club? Blue Chip Club? the headquarters in Miami? Which number were you using? I've never phoned any Customer Service number that had an answering machine, so that's a curiosity to me.

Celebrity email is not very responsive. This is true, and many posters here on Cruise Critic have commented on the long lag time, if we ever get an answer. But again, what e-mail address were you using? Captain's Club? Michael Bayley's office?

It sounds like your in-laws might be in the Blue Chip Club, since you reference a very exclusive club. Or is it perhaps some other group?

Sorry, but you aren't very specific with your questions and complains, so you can't get specific helpful answers.

When you asked your initial question, you didn't give ANYONE enough information to get the answer you wanted.

Folks tried to clarify the details, and you came back and gave us more information, but at the same time told people that you ONLY wanted folks to respond who had also won a cruise.

Do you know how SMALL the chances are of anyone having won the exact same contest for a free cruise?

Next time, you might want to be a little more gracious to the folks who spent their time sincerely trying to help you.

And if your in-laws are part of such an "exclusive group", then Celebrity should really be able to help without you having to go to a group of strangers for help.

Hope you and your family have a very happy holiday, and that your in-laws get the assistance they need from Celebrity.

Now you have actually given an answer. So your real problem is that you have not talked with Celebrity. Celebrity has lousy customer service with long lag times on the phone. So your problem is similar with your behavior here. You act somewhat obnoxious when people try to help you and there you are too impatient to actually wait on the phone to talk with someone. Guess a free cruise is not worth 30 minutes or so on hold.

Reality is you have to call and stay on hold until you actually talk with someone no matter which number you call.

So you were looking for the magic formula for getting around the onhold queue

I asked because hope springs eternal and on the slim chance that someone had the particular experience to be able to answer my questions. I was trying to spare people like you who did not have that knowledge from taking the time to respond with advice such as "call Celebrity". Sadly, many did not heed my request and chose to offer "advice " anyway.

I am sorry I ever broached such an arcane subject. This horse has been beaten to death.

Welcome to Cruise Critic.

You should have made the title of your thread "Has anyone on here won a free Celebrity Cruise" then you would have gotten different responses. Instead, you were vague and folks wanted more info.

Again, welcome to Cruise Critic. :D

No he should have titled it "how do you talk with Celebrity about a free cruise prize without waiting on the phone to speak with them"

The information I gave him came directly from a friend of mine that won and used a free cruise.

Only after several rude responses from him did he finally say that Celebrity did not call him back after sending e-mails and leaving voice mail. The key is he did not want to hang on the phone until they actually answered.

Your "friend's" information bears little, if any, relationship to my in laws' offer. Of absolutely no use. The real key is that you don't know what you're talking about, but you continue to post. Please, Mr. Moderator, lock this thread

This is a rather vague statement-- do you mean you Last Will & Testament? Do you mean your simply growing older? Do you only want only those that have lost their Will's to respond?

Thank you to everyone who gives up their free time to try and help people here on Cruise Critic.

Even when you don't know the immediate answer, it is lovely that you still take the time to ask questions and offer thoughts in an effort to help.

I, for one, appreciate it. :)

Wow- aggressive much?

Next time don't bother asking for feedback/assistance. You obviously have nothing but disdain towards folks who are trying to help.

Probably all of the above! Lol! No, I just think that this one of the more bizarre threads I have read on here, particularly given the aggressive nature of the poster! Hey ho.

Not being mind readers, we did not know that it was a cruise won on board, nor that you were having trouble getting through to Captains Club.

How much simpler it would have been if the OP had written "my in laws won a cruise while on a Celebrity cruise in (a raffle, a bingo game, a drawing in the casino). I would like to help them book it. I have tried calling (Captains Club, Blue Chip, the 800 number, my travel agent) but it isn't easy to get through to them. I (do, do not) have the paperwork with the T & C). My question is....."

That might have worked and its something for everyone to keep in mind....to get better answers, ask better questions

This thread feels a bit like been stopped on the street by a passerby and asked directions to his friends house. When you ask him "on what street does your friend live", he turns round and says " %^&* off, why did you stop if you can't help me".

very strange

Either the OP is an absolutely miserable individual, or is trolling the Celebrity board. Although I've never posted until now, I have always been appreciative of others taking their time to share info and generally found the answers on here quite helpful.
