Frznrth Posted December 15, 2014 #1 Share Posted December 15, 2014 Hi Last minute deals look great but how do you make them work if you need to book a flight too? Cruises get cheaper but flights go up - least what I've seen - at least from Calgary to San Juan. Are there companies that have packaged Air and Cruises that go on sale as the departure gets close? Thanks much.
CruiserBruce Posted December 15, 2014 #2 Share Posted December 15, 2014 We are not allowed to name or discuss travel agencies of any type on Cruise Critic.
Frznrth Posted December 15, 2014 Author #3 Share Posted December 15, 2014 Why? Is this board owned, sponsored, controlled by a certain company? Whatever. Are there flight and cruise last minute deals out there? Regardless of company name? Thanks
sfaaa Posted December 15, 2014 #4 Share Posted December 15, 2014 Go low season and fly mid week when flights are at the cheapest and less of a demand.
CruiserBruce Posted December 15, 2014 #5 Share Posted December 15, 2014 Why? Is this board owned, sponsored, controlled by a certain company? Because the boards would become a huge mess of competing Travel Agents and customers, that is why. Not because Cruise Critic is owned by one Travel Agency and they are banning any competitor. Reading around the boards, including the rules, like here: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/faq.php?faq=guidelines would be a good idea, and give you huge volumes of info. Nachosdelux Posted December 17, 2014 #6 Share Posted December 17, 2014 (edited) Somtimes you can use frequent flyer miles close in, as airlines may open additional FF availability. Down side is possibly close-in fees, and of course you need to have the miles. You can try the name your own price websites, but i would fly in day before and leave the day after the cruise ends, since you wont know exact flight times until after you purchase. Also, see what the. Cruise line charges for air. May be a good deal, even last minute, since they are essentially consolidators. paul929207 Posted December 17, 2014 #7 Share Posted December 17, 2014 I agree with Bruce. Yes, there have been times when it would have been nice to be able to name a TA, the absence of all the TA advertising themselves more than makes up for the occasional problem. Keep the TA out of these boards
