Cuizer2 Posted January 5, 2015 #301 Share Posted January 5, 2015 http://http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2146032 I thought the thread had run its course, but then someone just posted this on Allure. :) Well, other than the fact that it is the Oasis and it is tilted 90 degrees, it looks fine to me ... pinkrosesdeb Posted January 5, 2015 #302 Share Posted January 5, 2015 I see someone by the pool in a robe...looks fine to me, a robe is a robe is a robe. Ever heard of a beach robe? Just because YOU call it a bathrobe doesn't mean that is the only thing for which it can be worn. PLEASE just enjoy your cruise. Looks like the person by the pool is enjoying theirs. Beach robe, that's it and it looks like (judging by this website) that all RCCL needs to do is add "fringe" to all of their robes and no one will notice the difference. Charger2008 Posted January 6, 2015 #305 Share Posted January 6, 2015 Seeing as how this topic seems to be such a bone of contention for some folks ;) me thinks I need to get all of the folks who flowboard in the early am on our next cruise to pose for a picture with ALL of us wearing our robes out by the Flowrider. Heck, I may even flowboard with mine on :D
A2Mich Posted January 6, 2015 #306 Share Posted January 6, 2015 Well if the robes offend people, I understand, so I'll just walk back to my cabin naked (that way I won't drop water all over the place) Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app

Even after I complained vigorously about her wearing a robe to the pool she wouldn't walk back to her cabin naked. Why is it that only people with bodies like you and me make that offer? Edited January 6, 2015 by DirtyDawg

wassup4565 Posted January 7, 2015 #311 Share Posted January 7, 2015 Wearing bathrobe to pool = gauche. You can do it if you want. And if you do it some people will think you look like a dink. Your choice.
Proudmom1120 Posted January 7, 2015 #312 Share Posted January 7, 2015 I truly feel nobody has the right to judge other people. However, I will be honest and say whenever I see someone wearing a robe near the pool, it gives me a chuckle. It just looks odd. I do feel everyone should do what they please, though. MADflyer Posted January 7, 2015 #317 Share Posted January 7, 2015 What a ridiculous and culturally inept thread. I ignored this thread at first and still for the most part wish I would have. The difference can be derived in this simple variation between posts on English and American English dictionaries. http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/bathrobe Believe it or not there is a renowned expert on robes, Connie Hunter and she clearly states the multiple purposes for bathrobes and knows the historical significance of robes. http://ezinearticles.com/?What-are-the-Benefits-of-Owning-a-Bathrobe?&id=864958 http://ezinearticles.com/?The-History-of-Bathrobes&id=973017 Amazing to find this thread on the forum for a cruise line for which one of the regular popular activities is the "Men's International Belly-flop Competition". MADflyer Posted January 7, 2015 #318 Share Posted January 7, 2015 It is not the fault of the guest how RCI design their SPA activities. You can not expect all guests with todays baggage restrictions to pack several styles of robe or cover-up and RCI would have to provide them. If you are a spa aficionado it is quite common to go from SPA treatment to relaxation room to shower to gym to shower to dry sauna to shower to hot tub on deck to deck shower and then back to steam room to shower. (or some other fully acceptable variation on this) While this works ok on Freedom Class, it is quite a distance between facilities on Oasis class, for instance. Being that one is on vacation, moving to a bar or vitality bar in between one of these activities might also be normal and it would be completely inappropriate to approach a bar without proper cover and only in a bathing suit. Is it not natural for the use of a robe in between these activities and not the fault of the guest that RCI have them spread out in such a way that a 'robe' is required to move between these areas.
