Seine

We're thinking about a Seine cruise in 2016. I've seen much discussion on these boards about river levels on the Rhine and Danube, but not the Seine. Is there less fluctuation on the Seine, or just more people talking about the Rhine and Danube? Are there months to be cautious of for the Seine?

Thanks

We did the Viking Paris/Normandy Cruise in Nov 2013. The river levels were too high for the Spirit to sail into Paris. They bussed us from Paris to Conflans. Unfortunately, we were supposed to overnight in Paris so they bussed us back the next morning for the day. They did have mid day busses going back (I think). Water levels were down a week later and we sailed back into Paris.

We did the Seine in July 2013, that was the same time of the devastating floods on the Rhine and Danube, but the Seine was not affected in the same manner. When you approach Paris, the bridges are very low, so even the pilot room where the captain sits has to be taken down, and no passengers are allowed on the top deck when going under the bridge. The crew is used to doing that, is part of the usual routine when approaching Paris.

Good Luck. We loved the Seine itinerary.
